I sure hope everyone likes PS1 games, because Popsloader has been updated for LCFW Pro. I literally can not think of a reason why you shouldn't be using Pro now. And I'd better get to updating some links and such in the OP now. Anyone got any suggestions for places to get icons for Pops games? Edit: VV Yeah it went down shortly after I made this thread. vkeios fucked around with this message at 03:23 on Jul 2, 2011 |

I'm pretty sure there was a goon made website dedicated to that. Edit: And here it is http://www.popsdb.com/

Question since I've been out of the PSP modding game for so long (still running M33); I'm thinking about picking up a PSP-Go to replace my PSP2001, and I've got my 30 some-odd UMDs spanning across like 4-5 4GB pro duo sticks. Is there a recommended pro duo stick to pick up for the Go, and is there a size limit to stay away from? Like would it handle a 32GB stick, or should I stick to smaller increments like 8 or 16? This poor little 2001 is giving up the ghost and whenever I play UMDs from the disc itself it shits a brick if I tilt the PSP even the slightest bit, so I figure I might as well upgrade to something shiny and new. The PSP Go doesn't have a UMD drive. There is only a 16 Gig stick (which is a special type). So that with the onboard 16 gives you 32 Gigs in all. Not too bad if you ask me. Also, this means you'll need to use your old PSP to dump the disc, which isn't too hard to do.

Like RadicalR said, you're looking for an M2 card, and they don't (and I doubt ever will) make 32GB variants. Also, if your UMD drive is as unstable as you say it is, ripping your games with it is going to be an exercise in frustration. You may want to borrow someone else's if you still have any you need to do this to (which you probably don't, but). On the other hand, unless a smaller screen, a shorter battery and severely restricted savestates are worth $170 to you, you basically have a PSP Go now, and a reliable 32GB stick doesn't cost quite as much.

A few pages back, some people also recommended a SDCH to Memory Stick Pro converter, which you could stick 2 32GB SDHC sticks into and have 64 GB for all your games. Buying one of those, plus 2 SDHC cards of your preferred size would be cheaper than a Go + another memory stick pro.

If it's really that big of a deal get a 16 and make some tough choices (read: do you even play some of those games anymore).

I have 2x16GB MicroSD cards in my 2-in-1 adapter and it's been fine. I think I bought two or three and one of them didn't work because I couldn't get one of the micro cards in so I didn't want to force it in and break something. They cost $1 or less so it would be a good idea to get at least three.

I agree with what the guys above are saying, but for a few things. Number one, you can use the savestates program that Dark_Alex wrote a long time ago (someone ported it over to the new firmware). Number two, the battery life is not as bad as you may think it is. With wifi off and screen brightness down, I can get about 6 hours out of a charge. Not too shabby if you ask me. I can't deny the smallness of the screen, but personally, I like the portability. I can actually put it in my pocket, unlike its older brothers. (Try putting a PSP-1001 into your pocket and walk around comfortably.) However, it's really what you're comfortable with. I like it because I can easily output to my TV and sync a ps3 controller to it.

So i just picked up a new PSP 3000. What's the best way to go for modding this thing? My last psp used the pandora battery trick but that was ages ago, and not of what I used then is applicable now... I haven't updated the FW on this yet, and don't know which route to go for a new out-of the-box psp. Help?

Is there any PSP that offers full screen tv output (through that fancy plugin or whatever) AND bluetooth ps3 controller?

My PSP is a 2000 which is running 5.50 Prometheus 4 CFW. I want to update it to the 6.20 LCFW, but trying to update it to OFW 6.20 says that the firmware is 9.90 and doesn't need to update. Trying to run the installer directly says that my firmware isn't supported. How do I avoid chucking my psp into my monitor? Help D: Edit: Herpa derpa i should have not given up on the thread when i was 5 pages from the end. Tapeta fucked around with this message at 01:36 on Jul 3, 2011 |

Does the Pro-B permanent patch work with every new version of Pro-B in general or did it stop after a certain point? Can someone also explain the difference between using Popsloader over converting PS1 games into eboot files?

AllenR posted:Does the Pro-B permanent patch work with every new version of Pro-B in general or did it stop after a certain point? 6.20 is the only one with a permanent patch. Though, I think I did read something about a collaboration to make a 6.39 permanent one (of some sort). All PS1 games have to be converted to eboots before they can be played on a PSP. But the emulator support varies with each new firmware. Since Sony only focuses on supporting the stuff available on PSN, unsupported games experience positive/negative effects with each new update. So popsloader gives you a menu before loading PS1 games to choose between all past versions, so you can choose which ever version works best with a given game.

6.39 has a semi-sloppy permanent patch, but it only works on PSPs that can be Pandora'd (even though you don't need a Pandora battery to apply the CFW).

No no, when I was talking about the patch working on Pro-B, I meant for 6.20 versions specifically. Namely I'm running 6.20 Pro-B5 right now, but if I update to 6.20 Pro-B7, would the permanent patch still work? Edit: \/ Yeah, I just updated it and the patch remained on there even after the update. I'm using it just fine with 6.20 PRO-B7 on a 04g 3000.

Tried to install the 6.20 firmware update from 5.50 Prome-4, but it says i can't because my version is 9.99. What do i do now?

Check the Recovery menu for version.txt, I think its unnder Configuration, make sure its disabled.

For fucks sake. Resolved that by switching from memory stick to flash0 and editing the version.txt there and now trying to install the 6.20 PRO B7 Update results in a black screen.

Maybe a corrupt download then. Also since you're coming from 5.50 GEN, you can do a permanent install with 6.39 Pro-B7. Something to keep in mind, if you like bigger numbers. Dammit, update to 6.39 worked fine, but the undub of LOH: TITS still freezes. Guess i have to keep the UMD around. :/

Thought I'd post this question here, since it's somewhat related to the homebrew scene: I already have a PSP-1000, but I really hate using UMDs (carrying them around, the wear-and-tear on the drive, slow load times, etc...). I'm looking into buying a PSPgo, putting 6.39 Pro-B on it and going UMD-less with ripped versions of my games. The reason I don't just do it with my 1000 is that I'd prefer the Go's smaller size, plus the built-in 16gb memory is an incentive vs buying a $50 16gb memory pro duo stick for my 1000 (I only have a 4gb now). Anyone know of any good deals going on refurbished/used PSPgo models? I'd prefer the white model, if that matters. JazzFlight fucked around with this message at 00:55 on Jul 4, 2011 |

Check you local Gamestop. They sell them for $99.

Unless you're in Canada. The Gamestops here are still charging $150 for refurbs and $200 for the new ones.

Thanks for the quick reply. I managed to find a used white one on ebay for $115+shipping, no tax. Made sure with the seller that there weren't any dead/stuck pixels. I checked the Gamestop inventories near here and the closest one with one in stock was 30 miles away. Gamestop's price for a refurb is actually $110, which would have been around the same as I paid after tax. JazzFlight fucked around with this message at 23:39 on Jul 4, 2011 |
