I think there are a bunch of people who can create trailing images. I know some who could do this as if they were just going out for a stroll.
Just use an official Sony update, I went from CFW Prometheus-something to OFW 6.20 (and then to Pro-B) without any issues anywhere by just running the Sony updater.

Can I get it without a memory stick? for some reason It keeps saying that there's no memory stick inserted except for like one time where it showed up, after I let it charge for a bit it stopped again :sigh:

e: for some reason I can't start the psp with the memory stick in it now. even though that's how it even knew a stick was in it in the first place.

E:VVVVVV I bought it off ebay. I NEVER had these problems with my old psp
E2: also I had a memstick with my old one as well. I have a new one now but ugh shits so frustrating now

How the hell do you use a PSP without a memory stick!?

Okay, so I have recently aquired a black PSP-1000 and a whole shitload of games for same. I want to rip all those games and stick them on a couple of 32 GB memory sticks so that I don't have to haul around tons of UMDs.

What's the best CFW for me to go with currently in terms of compatibility?

Really anything. You'll be using the ripper in PSP Filer unless you like shorting your images, though.

The small tab that holds the psp backlight ribbon isn't even here, I assume the reason it was so cheap was because they botched this somehow. The backlight seems to work just fine though if i leave it sit there though

I got my PSP as a gift, just the PSP, no games, no memory stick, I borrowed Tales of Eternia from a friend and even when taking the PSP to another friend's house I paid special attention to make sure that I didn't have the battery run dry so I wouldn't lose my progress, I even dropped the PSP and feared the worst but things were just fine and I continued to play the game on and off like that for a good few days.

The PSP crashed later on for seemingly no reason and I lost all my progress anyway though! :suicide:

I think I'm going to use this 1000 model for scrap parts should I ever need them and buy a new one. It doesn't read my memory stick so I cannot change CFW, save games, or do anything really. I've tried connecting a USB to the PC so I can edit the version.txt and Edit the cersion to a lower number so I could use the OFW update from one of my UMDs but not even my PC will connect to it. I'm honestly out of options and hella tired physically and emotionally with this crap.

Okay, so, I ran the downgrader to get back to 6.20, had the right module and everything, and right after the downgrader finished...

I'm on a giant blue screen telling me: "Setting information is corrupted. Press the O button to repair and restore default settings."

Did I do something wrong, and if so how do I actually fix this?

That's normal. I got that when downgrading from 6.35 to 6.20 on my 4g 3000. Just let it do its thing and reset your settings. It's a one-time thing.

Right, so just to check, I've installed pro-b8 6.39. It's on a psp 3000, so I don't try to use the cipl_flasher, correct? I've assumed it was the perm patch, and I don't know if the 3000 can handle it.

Other than that everything is working perfectly. I used a microsd to memory stick adapter with one 16gig micro sd (it can fit two), and everything works like a charm. I'm downloading some of the recommended stuff from the op, and it all seems quite nice. I have to hand it to the thread, I wouldn't know how to do half this stuff if I was on my own here.

CIPL_Flasher is one of the perma patches, but its the one for 1000s and 2000s only.

Some 3000s can use 6.20's perma patch. If you're curious, run this homebrew, if your module is reported as 07g or 09g, you got a non-permanent patchable 3000.

Awesome, thanks!
I don't actually plan on making mine a perm, I want to keep the risks of bricking my psp as low as possible. Besides, 6.39 has the same stuff as 6.20, so I don't see any reason to downgrade.

Hey, you may want to remove the psx icon website popsiicle from the op. Apparently it's no longer running.

EDIT:
Hey, pspstates says I need to flash the umdcache to allow it to work with umd's. What exactly are the drawbacks of doing this? I mean, I loose my original umd cache, and I don't know what it does. Also I don't know if I can flash anything as my CFW isn't permanent. I also don't know how to flash, but that's just a google search away.

So now that we have a Popsloader for PRO, has anyone managed to get Dragon Warrior VII working? I'm using PRO-B8 and haven't been able to get it working perfectly yet. Using Pops 3.52 gets me the closest, which is working text boxes but no sound at all. Anything between 3.70 and around 6.00 just doesn't work at all and gives a black screen, and anything above 6.00 will give sound but no textboxes. I've also tried remaking the eboot with Impaler PSX but still no luck.

If it matters, I'm using with PRO-B8 and I've also tried it on the PRO-B9 Beta. I've fiddled around with the Memory Stick Speedup and UMD ISO mode options not knowing if they would help at all, and they didn't.

Good luck, that game is known to be a pain in the rear end to emulate. Even Sony have trouble with it. You can try submitting a bug report to Liquid and see if he can find a workaround for you.

Maybe it's an issue with the way you're ripping it. I have played through a couple disks of it (never finished) and didn't have any issues. I think I was running it native on 5.50 GEN-D Prometheus.

That would make sense. I'm using a bin/cue I found online so it was probably ripped improperly.

You're probably thinking of the right game. DW7 seems to give a lot of people trouble. I've read in other places like Wololo that being ripped the wrong way can cause lots of issues, so I wasn't really surprised to hear that. It also says that all Pops versions from 3.6 to 4.01 or so are completely not working, though I can't really verify that.

I can confirm that 3.52 works as in text boxes, but no audio. Will try the other ones.

Edit: Looks like it is exactly as you say. I wonder if it's possible to mix and match the files?

Just to put this out there. PSP OFW 6.60 is out. Only difference seems to be that they fixed the 6.39 kernel exploit. Though, a Mr Some1 (dude who found the 6.39 exploit) has released a video showing that he found one that works with 6.60.

Still that exploit hasn't been released yet, so avoid 6.60 for now.

Sony's only offering the 6.60 firmware. (You don't want this. Don't download the update from playstation.com. Don't use the update feature on the PSP.)

Get 6.39 from PSP Hacks. (Or 6.20 if you don't use Qriocity. It has a permanent patch.)

Then grab the appropriate beta of PRO-B9.

I'm having a bit of trouble getting some applications to run on 6.39 pro-b8, and I think they're 1.50 era apps. I'm specifically trying to get Duke3d and Bookr working. Most of the more recent emulators and such tend to work fine.

When I copy either to \game150\, it shows up as corrupted data, and when I copy to \game\ it gives the error "The game could not be started. (8002014c).

Any advice? Am I missing a plugin to get 1.50 applications working on the new firmware?

If you have a Pandora-capable PSP, I remember a program called Time Machine made by Dark Alex. Not sure if it works on newer firmwares or not.

Other than that, those apps/games won't work until the devs make a version that's compatible with the current firmwares. The GAME150 folder is only relevant on CFWs with a 1.50 kernel patch, which hasn't been done since like firmware 5.00.

Bookr isn't a 1.50 app, unless you are using an old version or something. I use it pretty often, so it should work just fine. I believe this is the most recent version:

Anyone who is using Bookr, do you have problems with squares appearing instead of characters like " etc? I've been using Bookr for quite a while but that particuarly problem drives me nuts in quote heavy texts. I've been converting to straight ms-dos text files and they appear fine in Notepad etc so ?!

I'm not sure whether I should be sad that I pretty much only use my PSP as a bookreader nowadays or glad that it is getting some use :v:

I haven't used a lot of plain text, mostly just pdf. I haven't seen anything like that anywhere but one certain badly made pdf I have that does it in a pdf viewer too. You could try something like Notepad++ and monkey around with the encoding.

You sir, are a superstar!

I've just installed Notepad++ and taken a look and sure enough what looks like standard " and ' characters in notepad suddenly slope for want of a better term, as if they were in a proper book. Which makes sense obviously but not when you wanted plain .txt files. A quick find/replace for forward and backward " and then one more for ' and all that's left is foriegn characters, like protege should be spelled etc and I can live with those. Now you've put me on the right track I could see exactly what setting I needed to tweak in calibre to get the right output in the first place. Every attempt to google this problem had led to people pretty much just *shrugging* and saying that's the way Bookr works so cheers!

Well Some1's Downgrader has been updated for 6.60. And now you can downgrade to whatever firmware you want now (Please don't do something stupid like 1.50 on a Go though, that definitely won't work).

You can probably expect the next Pro-B to have 6.60 support. Not that there's any real reason to use 6.60.
