So, did the Prometheus Online project just... die off? The website doesn't work anymore and I haven't seen or heard anything about it in a while.

They had to relocate again. And also all the useful stuff is behind Linkbucks referrers. (Those shitlords where they try to make you look at a fullscreen ad and then when they finally deign to let you skip it they pop up another fullscreen ad - which somehow still shits up your screen with ad even with a fully armed and operational ad-blocker - that usually has a nag dialog pop up if you try to close it.) And OH YEAH it's not enough to use the online-enabled PRO-C (which is also behind Linkbucks); you need the nightlies (no points for guessing why these aren't direct links). Honestly, I'm not sure whether it'd be more ethical to post the clean links or let the whole affair die in obscurity at this point. dont be mean to me fucked around with this message at 08:34 on Sep 30, 2012 |

Uh, what? No. You're wrong. You do not need the Nightlies in order to get it working - which btw, is hosted on Google Code. He just mirrors since Google had been pulling down his stuff without warning. As for the Linkbucks, I've never had any ad pop up. I just wait 10 seconds and click on the "Skip Ad" in the corner. I suggest checking your Ad Block.

There's kind of a thing for the Vita. Its one of those game save exploits. It only works for the US version of game called Urbanix (probably taken off the PSN already). Its just PSP custom firmware on the PSP emulator on the Vita, so no chance of fancy touchscreen homebrews on your Sony toy; but still neat imo.

Not enough memory space otherwise. 2) The nightlies are on a wiki page. Which eventually links to his own hosting. (For that matter, so do the Pro-C links.) 3) Before you ask, it's unreasonable to expect people to build from source. Also Cygwin is surprisingly delicate and takes more than itself down when it breaks. quote:As for the Linkbucks, I've never had any ad pop up. You might be using a script blocker, but I've tried several and I've yet to find one that doesn't break scripting on sites I actually use it for, even when I add everything on the page to a whitelist or even 'allow scripts globally'. And none of this excuses the use of Linkbucks. dont be mean to me fucked around with this message at 03:54 on Oct 5, 2012 |

Oh hey, Coldbird ragequit the scene. ... Again. Allegedly for real this time. Apparently it's over the Vita PSP-mode CFW that vkeios linked getting leaked. Granted, the guy who leaked Coldbird's stuff was a dick, but it's almost like the scene thinks they can keep publicly-known exploits open despite Sony having people on staff full-time just to detect and close loopholes. Also they act like they have no concept of deception, which you'd think is a bit of naivete that wouldn't have survived for the better part of a decade. dont be mean to me fucked around with this message at 04:11 on Oct 5, 2012 |

Sir Unimaginative posted:Oh hey, Coldbird ragequit the scene. Well, to be fair, they normally release leaks on the forums first for a week, then goes public. That is, you have to be a registered user before you can see what the exploitable game is. Seems to work so far, since Sony haven't taken down any games until AFTER it's publicly announced.

Sir Unimaginative posted:Oh hey, Coldbird ragequit the scene. At this point, the CFW scene for Sony stuff is hilarious. All I want is my emulators back on my Vita running natively. I don't care about pirating the games, heck, with ps+ you won't really need to and I don't mind buying games. But this is what happens when teenagers are "hackers". Same for iOS jailbreaking with Geohot being a cock.

So I recently picked up a PSP-1000 and hacked it and all that stuff to 6.20 PRO-B Perm patch, only to find out later that they have a 6.20 Pro-C Perm patch. Question is this: Do I uninstall the Pro-B patch before I put on the Pro-C patch, or am I good to go to have it updated already? Just curious, I'm kinda new to this stuff.

Update to 6.60 and just install the 6.60 version of pro-c.

The PS3 LV0 keys have been leaked. Postin' it here since this is the closest related thread to the subject. What this means, in a nutshell, is that the PS3 is now about as hackable as the PSP.

Where do I get the latest collection of cheats, and what does everyone use?
|
|
|
|
CWcheats is the go-to thing. If you want stuff to add to your cheat.db for a particular game, hit google.
|
|
|
|
-Troika-'s advice is outdated. CWcheat isn't updated anymore. TempAR ... well, isn't either, but its most recent version is two years newer than CWcheat's, and it uses CWcheat AND NitePR databases. You can use the CWcheat database (which is gone along with the CWcheat site, so if you can't find one in a PSP news site download oh well) You're best off looking for databases for individual games, since TempAR can handle dozens of general databases, plus title-specific databases. There are still comprehensive databases being made, but they're not up reliably, and they're on filedumps a lot worse than MediaFire, and odds are they're behind multiple link redirects that'll pop-up the planet's most annoying (and possibly dangerous) ads through anything short of NoScript set to "Madagascar". dont be mean to me fucked around with this message at 13:08 on Nov 9, 2012 |

And TempAR searches way faster, so if you actually make your own codes, it can be way better than CWcheat.

Has there been an update for gpSP that fixes Shining Soul 2's compatibility with the emulator? I keep getting these crashes when the game gets to the language select screen. What'll happen is the game resets after I select a language, shows the GBA start up screen, lets me choose the language a second time and then bang, game crashes.

Looking for some help on RemoteJoyLite. I've been using it perfectly fine for a few weeks then it just randomly up and died in the middle of using it. Now when I have my PSP connected I get no video on RemoteJoyLite. Tried reinstalling the driver, tried reinstalling the x32 driver since I'm on 64 bit and had used the x64 one. Device screen says it has an error, but since it's an unsigned driver I'm not sure how much to conclude from that. Edit: Now I am getting driver did not successfully install messages. Do any of you know of a tool that can dump the script of a Japanese iso for easier translation? Or guides on iso hacking to replace the text? Or am I going to just have to learn how to do it all at once?

It's not as bad as it was back in the cartridge gaming days where you'd see some pretty exotic compression and code/data marriage to fit things in single-digit megabytes (if that), but if you ask five development houses how they store their game's text you'll get a staggering amount of answers. dont be mean to me fucked around with this message at 19:50 on Dec 18, 2012 |

My first instinct would be to go to the japanese equivalent of Gamefaqs. If people do full scripts in the US, I can only figure people do it in Japan.

I'm not tech savvy when it comes to this particular kind of thing, so I need solutions that work out of the box. The DS works that way because it has code to boot straight off a game card, and once in game the firmware basically doesn't matter. The PSP (and for that matter the 3DS and every console since the original Xbox - possibly including the original Xbox and the Dreamcast, but I don't have any hands-on experience with either - but only excluding the DS and the DSi in DS mode) have an actual operating system. Nothing terribly sophisticated and certainly not general-purpose, but the point is you aren't resetting to get back to the menu anymore. The downside of this is that there are no turnkey solutions for homebrew these days. If you're willing to learn how to copy files and load apps to make homebrew happen (which you sort of need to do with your easy setup DS anyway), then for the love of god go back and read the OP. Maybe it looks daunting now but ten minutes from when you start you'll be shocked at how simple it was.

I'm posting here because I have no idea where else to ask, does anyone here know how to decompress or pull assets out of .gim files? I'm really dying to pull sprites out of No Heroes Allowed/"What did I do to Deserve this, My Lord" but I'm at a dead end after pulling the files off my psp.

GIM is a standard PSP image format, there's even an official Sony tool for converting them. Search for "GimConv".

Let it warm up to room temperature and it should be fine.

Pretty dumb question but the OP has me a little confused; aside from the (potential) inability to downgrade to OFW 6.20, is there any real difference in the 2000 and 3000 models in terms of homebrew? I currently have a 2000 and need to replace it; can I just get a 3000 and go about my business the same as with the 2000 or is there a significant difference in what will run on a 3000?

Marcade posted:can I just get a 3000 and go about my business the same as with the 2000? Pretty much, yeah. (Some people have opinions on the different panels and also you can push games over any TV cable on the 3000, as opposed to only component and only in progressive mode on the 2000.) Although with Prometheus working the same from 6.20 to 6.60 and no API changes in that time (or expected ever again) you really shouldn't need to be on anything but 6.60. Just keep the Fast Recovery on your memory stick in case you reset or power-off the thing. You can't make CFW permanent on a 3000 - but even with Fast Recovery it works identical to a permanent CFW on a 1000 or 2000. dont be mean to me fucked around with this message at 01:31 on Jan 20, 2013 |

Also the main difference between the 2000 and 3000 is that the POPSLoader can't use all firmware on the 3000, but that also depends on the model.
