teethgrinder posted:It felt less slick to me, in a good way: like a throwback to pre-USM stuff. It's just as well because I feel like their production topped out at Northern Light and the interim two albums just haven't been as good. There's definitely been several great tracks, but as albums they suck. I think this one is decent throughout. Not earth-shattering, but competent. This is turning out to be their best album since Northern Light for me. Skyshaper had some great tracks, and I really didn't care for Modern Ruin at all. I didn't have the highest of hopes but I'm pleasantly surprised. 'I Walk Slow' has been the only track I don't care for.

Just noticed that Dependence 2013 apparently came out August 30 ... with new Seabound on it. I don't see it for sale anywhere but their own store though, and not on Rdio. edit: live version on YouTube at least: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHI63_wylGw Not sure if that's the best version, just a quick search at work. teethgrinder fucked around with this message at 18:35 on Sep 16, 2013 |

A few things: New Covenant is the best since Northern Lights. Very good. Debut album by Technomancer is fantastic. An Apoptygma Berzerk cover and co-produced by an ex-member of Apoptygma Berzerk. Good news for everyone who weren't thrilled by Apoptygma Berzerk turning into Avril Lavigne. New Architect is ridiculous. Just so loving good. Can't wait for the painter to be finished so I can listen to it on my new Dali Zensor 7's.

According to Dependent's Facebook page, it was delayed by 2 weeks. Official release date was Sept 13th. So, I continue to wait for the great overseas carrier pigeon to deliver mine. I will be popping it into my car audio deck where it will remain for the next 6 months, overthrowing Mesh's Automation Baby that's been in there for the previous 6. (not even close to tired of it yet, either.)

Didn't catch this one yet but this sounds promising.

I've gotten so many awesome new recommendations from this thread, thank you all so much for that! Haven't seen anyone mention the new Kevorkian Death Cycle. I always dug KDC, but had kind of forgotten about them. I am really digging God Am I though. A lot. Anyone else listen to it? Thoughts?

A brief message from your I have recently begun a new business besides being Volt 9000, which combines two things essentially important to me: High-octane toilet cleaner for my industrial-rock loafs + added revenue. I am an independent distributor of 9000 Flushes, a company that produces, among other things, highest quality toilet cleaner. Since I’ve been supplementing my Rock’n’Roll lifestyle with some select products of theirs, I’ve noticed some very positive effects and changes taking place. My personal experience with, and thus resulting recommendation, 9000 Flushes "Industrial" Strength Toilet Cleaner. If you have any questions please email me, or if you'd like to be a distributor yourself, contact my company.

Seems better than their last couple of albums, though, and I'm pumped for this to drop on (apparently) Friday. Retaliate is such a loving jam, it's just ridiculous.

I suspect they're deliberately avoiding (or don't care about) the goth-industrial scene. (The show was at a rock club, not the goth club.) Interesting crowd, too, like hipster-goths. Hah, a goon does work there, but I don't think so. It was really random, and loud at the bar, took me a while to make sure I wasn't crazy. I'm not even sure it was Seabound now, but definitely Spinnath's voice. I'm pretty sure it wasn't even a regular album track as I should have easily recognised it. I was excited because I've literally never heard anything remotely electro-industrial outside a club or my own home. In other news, I really like their song on Dependence 2013: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Uro8n9oyTI

Remotely I apologise, I have a tendency to use electro-industrial/futurepop/synthpop synonymously. It shouldn't be a can of worms, but I'm having flashbacks to 90s "industrial" arguments. edit: DUH, finally remembered what Seabound song it was -- The Escape, from Dependence 2012, which is why I wasn't too familiar with it. Was bugging me so much. The rest of the compilation definitely wasn't played, so odd how it snuck in there. teethgrinder fucked around with this message at 13:35 on Sep 26, 2013 |
