Apology posted:

I know I'm late, but I bought that one during the mid- to late-BYOB era, and I basically bought it to piss people off.

BYOB posters had a bad habit of begging for thing like emoticons and new avatars. There was either already a "Let's buy an emoticon!" thread, or I might have posted a new one, I can't remember. Anyway, I posted "I'm thinking of buying an emoticon." I got a (totally typical) flood of "Ooo Ooo buy this emoticon (that I made)" or "Buy my vanity emoticon!" (those things always irritated the hell out of me), or even "Don't buy an emoticon, buy me a new avatar/plat/archives". While they were still arguing over how I should spend my money, I quietly bought :ccb:. I can't remember what they decided I should buy, but as soon as they did decide I told everyone that I'd bought ccb already.

CCB doesn't really mean anything; it's a cock and a clown balloon put together. Someone in FYAD made it (I can't remember who). Anyway, I told everyone that it signified what terrible trolls people in BYOB were, because they had absolutely no sublety about trolling. They sucked at it and were probated/banned within just a couple of posts (which was true). I just made the symbolism part up though, the same way I made up critiques for terrible artwork when I was in art school.

That's a really long explanation for a really stupid emoticon, but there it is. I wouldn't care if it got deleted now that Radium's gone. None of the people who were pissed about :ccb: are around any more, so it's outlived its purpose. Most of the people who had BYOB vanity emoticons don't post here any more either. The new programmer could trim a lot of lovely emoticons now and I don't think there is anyone left to care.

It's a favorite of some drive-by avatarers, but it references the newspaper Spider-Man's tendency to be foiled by bricks to the head.

It was bought by some anonymous person a while back for a whole lot of people who posted in BSS. Everyone got the hardhat picture except the goon named SpiderHyphenMan, who got a picture of spider-man getting hit in the head with a brick (and this picture sadly isn't coming up on that avatar history tool).

Half that, and half because Marvel Adventures Spider-Man was awesome.

It's not about the specific content of Arf's posts. It's about the fact that he won't stop.
I always thought that the joke was about how "Spider-Man" was hyphenated while "Hard Hat" wasn't, and how at least one Goon was unreasonably angry about that.

That implies that it's only funny to goons. The entire reason why :frogout: became a thing was because people thought the plush was really goofy looking. That's why I want one, because it's funny.

Unfortunately, she quit a while ago because the demand was too high.

One of the Etsy goons might take a commission, Segmentation, but I don't know how much they'd charge. Might be a little pricey.
