poptart_fairy posted:So what's with "this is exactly what I wanted to come back to after an eight hour car ride"? "a bay" went on a crusade against the previous tumblr thread. Some people were more annoyed by that than others. Bismuth posted:This is definitely what I wanted to come back to after an 8 hour car ride. The story has a happy ending: a bay is now an earnest, contributing member of the new tumblr thread.

Met posted:New things! These are both from the Marvel Heroes thread in games. The first is a reference to the fact that the game has a prestige system, allowing you to reset the level of a character at the cap in return for minor rewards, one of which is changing the color of your name in chat and over your head. The last prestige, cosmic or yellow prestige, requires 25x the normal experience and is really only done by crazy people. The little sun that appears at the end is the current avatar of ICR, a prominent goon player who always tells people to cosmic today. The second smiley is in reference to this comic: ![]() Because Doom is getting added to the game in a couple weeks, many goons are calling for the implementation of Doom's toot horn in some way.

The Doom Toot Horn is the greatest moment in all of comics and I will hear no argument against it.

Met posted:New things! Being "salty" is a common expression for someone who is streaming a game on Twitch.tv and is upset and/angry that he is losing or just lost. Chat usually responds to that with "PJSalt" which is the emoticon code for a can of salt. The above is a much better looking emote, but I'm guessing it's supposed to be used for the same purpose.

In the context of video games, being salty is mostly a fighting game thing anyway. Skullgirls even has a game mechanic related to people being big salty babies when they're losing which is kinda funny. Also the salt shaker emote for Skullgirls goes for like 4 dollars on Steam which is good because I got one through those dumb trading cards and then got 4 dollars literally for free. So that's cool.

RyokoTK posted:Using "salty" like that predates the internet. Yes, but people might not be aware of that. Considering this is the "why the hell did someone buy this emote" thread I'd thought to give some context. I mean, I assume it was bought by somebody who posts in Games instead of Goons with Spoons. Now let's talk about how Kojima-san created the word "meme" in his magnum opus that is Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty! Mierenneuker has a new favorite as of 11:48 on May 23, 2015 |
