Some of them are kinda bullshit even when they're there. None of them make much difference to how the trial plays out, they're just slightly different ways to progress from Talking Point 5 to Talking Point 6. gently caress, top of the page. This spoiler is regarding a V3 minigame, and how to get a related trophy. Right, I understand the idea of the perjury/backroute thing, but I was talking about how to get the trophy that says 'get every alternative path in a non-stop debate' I already got the trophy for actually using a lie to do a shortcut. Is there an easy debate to do it in, or is it badly translated and we have to do every shortcut in every non-stop in the entire game?

Yeah gently caress that's gonna be a grind. I figured since it has a low percentage of people completing it. I'll just work on some easier stuff and wait for some dudes to write a guide. I've gotten the platinum on the first two dangan ronpa, I want to get this one too. It's just gonna take more effort this time.

Meallan posted:Would people be alright if the developers made a new IP that was danganronpa only in gameplay mechanics with almost nothing of the tropes used? I said something to the same effect above, but yeah, I would be down for that. It's like with TV shows, you know? Sometimes a show has gone on for too long and the creators are obviously losing all enthusiasm and ability to shake up the setting enough to generate new exciting seasons, so the best thing for the show is usually to kill it and let the creators use their creative powers on something new and fresh. Danganronpa is approaching the point for me where I think Magnificient Danganronpa Q4 would probably be excessive and not great... but I really like the trial royale gameplay, so if they want to make more of that I'll keep buying their games. That being said, "none of the tropes" is probably not possible... tropes work for a reason. But I'm sure a fresh setting would make it easier for the writers to not rely so much on tropes they've already ground into the dirt over the course of the series and find some new ones. Quite honestly I'd be quite happy to play a game that applied the same style and mechanics to something where all my favourite characters don't die horribly.

Yeah. I also think it would be great if they started off fresh. Danganronpa is not just a series, it's a genre of its own. I won't be sad when Dragon Age ends, when Pillars of eternity ends, because there is still going to be plenty RPGs in the market. But I would be really sad when ace attorney and danganronpa end with no sort of replacement in sight, because they are almost a genre of their own.

Let's just do a swapsies where Capcom makes the next Danganronpa game and Team DR makes the next Ace Attorney game. Boom, problem solved

Finished the game. Found something odd in ch6. To the side of the school of the school, during one of the earlier chapters, a large pillar gets built. You can't normally walk towards it, but during chapter 6 you actually can. There's a small path towards it, and a cover has come loose, revealing something that looks like a secret elevator. It's too deliberate to not have some importance, but I don't know how to access it. It's not required for the main story, at least. I'm not sure what to do to make it accessible.

Full game spoilers: I was really hoping that the trial for chapter 5 would resolve differently, as I spent the whole time after it was concluded that Kokichi was trying to gently caress the whole thing up wondering why on Earth Shuichi was providing an answer for Monokuma, and was also confused as to why he was so entirely certain one possibility was absolutely the definitive version of events (also Kokichi owns and I would have loved to see that piece of poo poo in the finale, meanwhile Maki just casually tried to kill everyone in the trial, basically caused the death of Kokichi, and people just forgive her but Alright). Chapter 6 was a loving doozy and I have some conflicting feelings about The Twist, but everything having to do with the V3 title reveal was great. Purposefully denying us any trustworthy answers is cruel as hell and it owns, and even if the whole "signing up for a death game" aspect is bullshit (who knows!) the audition videos were incredibly effective. I wish they did a bit more with the Makoto(?) framing they started the chapter with, but in general the presentation was solid. I'm agreeing with everyone who wants them to loving stick to their guns and never make another one. But if they want to be cowards I'll play the next one, of course.

Hello. I beat V3 yesterday and I just want to get this out of my head. This game has the best mechanics out of all previous games. It has the most likable cast, the most interesting cases and class trials, the most refined gameplay, the prettiest artstyle, of them all. The game was getting better and better... up until chapter 6 class trial. It's not that I mind the 4th wall break. In fact I think it was really drat clever and pretty well written. I liked the 53 twist and the moral being people would stop their beloved killing games if it meant they could stop the agony of the fictional characters. But I think it's a crying shame that they threw away all the development in the garbage with the twist. I'm sure they just wanted to wrap up the series and wash their hands off of it, and I'm fine with that. But I feel as though there was so much potential plot development and everything was reaching its climax and they just shitcanned it all, and I feel it's a drat waste of a perfectly good game. They had a lot of explanation to do and I can't say I'm too fond of the fact they ended everything with the explanation being "it's all fiction! nothing matters!" I know that might have been the whole point, though, being that this game is essentially the wrath of the developers upon their fanbase. Overall I'd say the ending was pretty drat good and really clever, it's just not what I was personally hoping it would be. Oh well, at least the epilogue kinda made me feel better about the twist. Rating: 10/10. Just don't make a sequel, for the love of Christ. I'm sure they're absolutely done with this series, but there's always the possibility of corporate wanting more games for one of their most successful game series. ass fucked around with this message at 13:45 on Oct 8, 2017 |

Ending discussion: I've been thinking about it a lot and I'm just kind of confused over exactly how much of the series ended up being totally fiction; was there really a Hope's Peak? Did the first two killing games ever actually happen in any way outside of a reality show context? What does that mean for DR0?

Closed-Down Pizza Parlor posted:Ending discussion: I don't understand how people have problems with this. Danganronpas 1, 2, 0 and the anime are canon within their own universe, and Danganronpa V3 takes place in another one where, much like in our own, the danganronpas are just video games. Tsumugi tries to last minute twist this with the stuff about copycats but that's not very important to the overall story.

Yeah I read somewhere that Kodaka has always made it clear that DR3 was supposed to be the conclusive ending to the DR1+2 series, and that V3 was its own universe, so that fact supports this theory I guess.

Marathoned the poo poo out of this game over the past week since I got it as a gift. Goddamn what a fun ride. The new debate modes and mini-games are great and as always the soundtrack is superb. A great cast of characters too. I won't actually dive into spoilers but I'll post my list of favorites for people to laugh at. Top Favorites: Miu, Kiyo, Gonta, Kokichi Yes. It's me. I'm the one Kiyo fan in the world.

Completed Chapter 3. (Chapter 3 Spoilers) I was sad to see Tenko go, since she was great. I was almost hoping for Angie's and Tenko's killers to be different people, since letting a killer stay around and trying to work with everyone else would have been interesting. I'm not sure if Monokuma's punishments are to be taken 100% literally, but it was interesting to see Kiyo's sister laughing it up and wanting his spirit to be destroyed. Which is kinda a harsh punishment now that I think about it, harsher than what what the other blackeneds usually get..

Ending spoilers. Following up on something that came up a few days ago - Kaede's line about not having an Ultimate talent at the beginning of the prologue. I still think this is a careless translation, so here's the entire thing in detail. Lines are transcribed exactly as they appear in the game. My "translation" of the Japanese is only meant to be as literal as possible with no accounting for style or legibility. --- Monosuke: We’re just wondering… do youse guys have Ultimate talents or anything like that? なんや…”凄い才能”とか持ってへんのかって聞いとるんや。 Nanya… “sugoi sainou” toka mottehen no ka tte kiitorun ya. (Heavy Osaka dialect) That is... (We're) asking if you have an "amazing talent" or something like that. (Note: the Japanese term for "Ultimate", 超高校級 Choukoukoukyuu isn't used here) Kaede (thinking): Ultimate talents…? 凄い才能って… Sugoi sainou tte… Amazing talent... Kaede: I… don’t have one. そんなの…ないよ。 Sonna no… nai yo. Something like that... (I) don't have it. Kaede: I have a skill that I devote myself to… but I wouldn’t call it an Ultimate talent… 好きで打ち込んでるものならあるけど、とても”凄い才能”とは言えないし… Suki de uchikonderu mono nara aru kedo, totemo “sugoi sainou” to wa ienai shi… If it's thing(s) I love and devote (myself) to, I have (one/some) but, I can't say (it's/they're) an "amazing talent"... --- The Japanese is vague here, almost certainly on purpose, and I think it just wasn't careful for the translators to use either "Ultimate" in Monosuke's question (because it's as straight as giving away the situation if we take Tsumugi's explanation as mostly true) or "skill" in Kaede's answer. In fact, now that I went over these lines carefully, my interpretation is that Kaede's talking about Dangan Ronpa fandom here. It's not a skill, but it's certainly something she had been devoting herself to if she went so far as applying to be on the show. It's an interpretation the Japanese line is most certainly open to, but the English translation not so much. orenronen fucked around with this message at 00:03 on Oct 9, 2017 |

Ending: The "application" thing really has to be bullshit though, right? It contradicts what we see in the prologue (where the characters describe being kidnapped and react with horror to the Monokubs) and it would be easy to brainwash everyone into making those videos. There's also a pretty clear reason for telling that lie - that's probably how Team Danganronpa pretends the Killing Game is an OK thing to do.

I dunno - Team DR's method might be to go kidnap the chosen applicants, just so they don't have a chance to go back on their decision to participate once push comes to shove.

Compare that to DR1 where you had three dumb-dumbs just there for Naegi to explain to, and to DR2 where Hiyoko was hastily swapped in for a double murder and nobody even cared enough to find out how she died. There are still a couple characters that don't do a lot, but the number of 'filler' characters is considerably lower.
