King Of Coons posted:Very good take on the surface maybe. But a bit deeper, nah. Stringer was not a smart dude and had poor awareness of his situation. He tried to bribe a scammer to buy his way into high society (which Avon saw through immediately). He betrayed the strongest parts of his own organization in this pursuit and turning the street into a legit business. His focus on these things and Omar, even breaking a long-standing truce, helped lose the war with Marlow. Stringer was also a well-known drug kingpin to police and everyone else. That was never going to easily wash off. Marlow was clever with good awareness. He learned every level of the business that mattered and understood the need for violence at the street level. But the most important thing, after we bounce from this poo poo right here, Marlo wants everyone to know that word did not get back to him. I quite enjoy seeing Clarke Peters showing up in the UK's laziest, gentlest Saturday-afternoon detective shows, though (Poirot, Midsomer Murders). Man's earned the right to some easy paycheques with a short commute.

I think he did a two episode cameo in 'Casualty' just because he wanted to do it, I imagine in the same way Ian McKellen did a turn in 'Coronation Street' just because he wanted to do it

Clarke Peters is in an episode or two the Deuce as a retired pimp, which is totally fitting.

JD Williams is the cast member that I can't believe didn't have a bigger career. I mean, he's had steady work for years, which is more than most actors can dream of, but that dude should have been a star.

Every time I see Stephen McKinley Henderson (Thufir in Dune, Sammy in Civil War) I feel like he was one easy rehearsal away from being a main character in the Wire. Man's got some great chops.

Just finished rewatching The Corner and I'd forgotten how absolutely harrowing that show is. It goes for both this and The Wire but the casting is so absurdly good, it's obscene.

I picked up a cheap copy on DVD awhile back and I'm not gonna make the same mistake I've made many times before and get rid of it assuming that SURELY they wouldn't be stupid enough not to make a blu-ray eventually.

Harrowing is right. I got to the 2nd or 3rd episode and it was so depressing I stopped. Very well done, but drat.

So I dunno if anyone is following the Ziggy Sobotka account on Twitter. But hooooly poo poo he made a pro-Trump post and got lambasted in the comments. Imagine watching The Wire, making it your entire personality, and then that. Even David Simon replied.

nick sobotka drops the hard N word on several occasions in show, so both of the cousins would be all in on MAGA without a doubt. both for "economic" reasons ("they're flooding the border and taking our drat jobs, and biden lets them in personally") and racist reasons ("tired of welfare queens"/"all life matters")
