Fresh Like Zafo posted:I really believe that when queens use "this is my drag" as an explanation for their critiques, it comes across as an excuse to not push themselves out of their comfort zone. The whole point of being on the show is not only to show what your aesthetic is, but also be versatile with said aesthetic to fit into whatever runway challenge Ru and company throw at them. Sharon gave them some glam looks while still sticking to the spooky poo poo she does, and Jinkx gave some glam in the middle of the season while doing her 50's/60's drag. It's completely possible to be more sharp in your looks without giving up what your schtick is. Yep, and by this point I want to shout at every queen who says that, "HAVE YOU NEVER WATCHED THIS SHOW?" Queens who stay with their regular schtick, whatever that may be, almost never win. Ditto the super-fishy queens who still think that their look alone is enough to get a win on this show; looking good will get you to mid-season, but it will not get you the crown.

Raja and Raven critique the runway looks of episode 4 and I have to agree with them on Milk and Adore. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1KCYL6xz5A Courtney also needs to start padding her hips or something because if she's trying to pull off the body card it's not exactly working with her boyish figure. do u believe in marigolds fucked around with this message at 00:19 on Mar 20, 2014 |

It was like Milk was taking the piss on unspoken nasty judgments media likes to pass off on women. She pulled off looking like an aged/washed out star past her prime and pregnant all at once. Milk wasn't going for best-dressed at the Tonys, but for the falling star who gets photoshopped worse on tabloid covers that cruelly speculate on who the father isn't. I agree on wanting to see her diversify because I don't want her to go home! More Milk please! I understand Laganja was in a delicate place after the message from her parents, but Bianca immediately apologized once she caught on Laganja was upset at the comment and not just overwhelmed by the moment. I guess she was still too upset to accept the apology instead of having an awkward breakdown but wow, I'm over Laganja already.

Bianca better win, dammit. I like Adore but CINCH IT and Courtney is cool when she isn't trying to serve body-ody-ody, ya know? Darienne may or may not be the black horse in this competition. I hope she quits with the sparkly garbage bags; she's reminding me of that Honey person with all the caftans

Since Sheryl Lee Ralph was the guest judge this time, I'm sad that they didn't use "In The Evening" for the lip sync. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8mKPp9_ogA On a lyrical level it's perfectly suited for a drag performance.

To me it just seemed like Ru being Ru. Since it's a World of Wonder-produced video thingy, I also assume he's still playing his character to an extent. If you want to hear Ru being honest and deep and heartfelt, check out the podcast/interview he did on Aisha Tyler's show. quote:I had made a bunch in the previous seasons but they seemed to get overlooked. I would have liked to hear what these queens say about what is/isn't drag. Also, Gia Gunn's departure speech/demeanor was hilariously awful. I like the combination between her wig and her lashes getting loose made her look like she was malfunctioning. Also, she was so ungrateful and she kept bashing on how they're all men. It was like a portrait of a bitter queen. I am starting to see what Ru likes about Adore. She's a better model of what a young queen should be than Laganja or Gia. I like how she has grown to understand that Bianca's attitude is actually more of a biting, but helpful drag mother.

Adore seems willing to learn and grow, and doesn't have a fit every time she gets critiqued. She's also a great performer (her Anna Nicole was dead on, and much more specific than the barrage of generic blonde jokes I was expecting). She's rough as hell, but Bianca's offering her explicit help because she can see that Adore isn't up her own rear end. Despite her amazing bitch face, she's got the right attitude about all this. Gia went out with all the class I expected. Milk... I'm so very sick of her. She sucked on the snatch game, and her runway was a clever punchline but that's about it. Bianca and Ben continue to be practically flawless. Laganja, go home.

The more Gia talked the more I wanted her off. And then when she got told to sashay away and her farewell was less "i'm sad but this was great" and more of a "whaaa i don't like milk make her leave insteaaaaaaaaad " I'm glad I'll never have to listen to her talk through her nose for the rest of the main season. I didn't understand Michelle's comment about "old ladies is Ben's thing." She did them twice, and they were different old lady characters, one being the super rich person from the early 1900s and the other being a lunatic in a haunted house. Yeah they're both old women but they're different as hell. That Snatch game though. That was basically everything I wanted out of a Snatch game. On point characters, quick wits and only a couple stinkers. My only wish is that they'd focused on Darienne more, it seems like she was in character, and amusingly so, the entire time, but the focus was more on Gia, Laganga, Adore and Bianca.

Yeah they're both old women but they're different as hell. And on the first episode she got Golden Girls. That's three episodes out of four (since she wasn't in episode 2 at all). I don't think it's a problem, but for one reason or another it's definitely a trend.

I'm so glad Gia went home, her ideas of drag was one note and the only redeeming thing I ever saw in her was the small history of her doing kabuki. Laganja needs to go home next for her selfish attention-whoring attitude and annoying personality. I'm in love with Ben and Bianca and I used to like Milk but I'm not sure who my favorite third is.

So do you think Santino really meant to make fun of Ru? Because god I want him off the show asap Me and my friend have theorized that he is a witch and has Ru under some sort of spell because there is no other plausible reason. Just none. Also hoping TKB feels less grumpy now that she got that reveal off her chest. I was baffled when Ru said she was safe but now I'm happy things went the way they did. The bottom two this week felt like fanservice, if only they could both be gone Ben is flawless, Bianca is incredible and Adore was adorable bla bla copy paste this every week April's runway for the week (from her facebook page): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PG6CgBUslgc Another one from Alaska. drat April. I love how she's seizing the opportunity! She totally has helpers and is better at painting for photo than camera, etc. -- but that's a good-rear end photo, and she isn't going to be hurting for work going forward. Love Alaska's videos too, but the voice is bugging me. The reddits say that was Alaska's voice pre-RuPaul, but I liked the deep, more natural drawl.

God what a bitter end to Gia. Not cool. Laganja was totally out to lunch this episode. Apparently she left a comment on a YouTube video saying that the producers didn't allow her to take her "medication"; my guess is that she was self-medicating with pot for anxiety or depression because I've never seen anyone break down that frequently. Shame if that's the case, looked up some of her performances and she's far better than what she's been serving on the show. Could just be the pressure of the show, but regardless it just seems like she's just unraveling. Besides those two, I still just love everyone else and the way they work with each other. It's going to be painful to watch the girls go after Laganja gets gone.
