Squadron 42 is just the single player campaign right? Cause that's all I really wanted from this lovely project was a spiritual sequel to Wing Commander. No Man's Sky is a title I am looking forward to. It's a sandbox title through and through but it looks like it's keeping things grounded and not trying to be super overwhelming. It'll be an accessible game since it's being made with the PS4 in mind (but there'll be a PC version too).

You can join us in watching development of Enemy Starfighter, which won't have much plot but is looking refreshingly not-sandbox. No trading, no exploration, no RPG elements, just kill poo poo.

Plus it's being made by one guy instead of 500, and he is extremely obstinate about not taking people's money until the game is sufficiently done, so it's pretty much the anti-Star Citizen.

Have to laugh that it's only being developed by a team of 7.It already has more interesting presentations than SC (although I am sure all those SC ship4$ale ads would make a great portfolio when applying for a job at Tesla's marketing division).

He is listed as still being employed in CIG, while at the same time being in CRYTEK. Essentially, he says he never left CRYTEK.

I don't think they are prepared even remotely for it. Right now CIG has the benefit of backers white knighting for them. Imagine what happens as that support dries up in the face of constant delays and failed expectations. Imagine backers going to their offices, and every post they make being deluged in shitposting. Imagine their funding stream drying up to nothing (CIG still makes in a day more than PGI made during the entire Transverse campaign).

This is where CIG's decision to be vague about planned features is going to really bite them in the rear end. Everyone just filled in the blanks with their own wish fufilment. So when X feature doesn't match up to whatever someone's personal wish was, there is rage. Now apply that to every single feature.

CIG's only hope at this point is that SQ42 is actually really good.

A lot of people said that at the beginning of all this when all anyone had was kickstarter bullet points and I would have agreed with you then, but the longer this thing goes on for, the more I don't feel that is the full picture:

quote:

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/14804-Design-Civilian-Passenger-Transport
One of the more common service requests is for a mixed drink. Passengers key in their order through ICES, which immediately transmits that information to the MixMaster associated with that particular section.

The MixMaster is connected to eight different beverages and has a rotating set of nozzles. Pressing one of the eight associated buttons causes the corresponding beverage to dispense until the button is released. Alongside the seat of the passenger that ordered the drink and the time remaining before a reputational penalty starts to accrue is the formula for the desired concoction. A formula such as 1-1-4-8 would indicate that two parts beverage 1, one part beverage 4, and one part beverage 8 are required. The quality of the drink – displayed on the MixMaster – is determined by how accurately the portions were allocated. If the player isn’t happy with the quality of the drink they can simply press a key to discard it and start anew, but ships carry a limited supply of beverages so this tactic should be used sparingly. Upon acceptance of a drink it is moved to a conveyor belt on the side. Thus, players can prepare multiple drinks in a row and then move to deliver them, or one player can mix the drinks and another can focus on getting them where they belong.

While a passenger in Coach would be fairly forgiving with regard to slow delivery times and a poor mixture quality, travelers in Business Class and up would expect much more, and repeatedly disappointing them would have an adverse effect on their opinion of the flight, and ultimately the player’s reputation.

The level of detail and lack of gaming abstractions crossed the line into Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying a long time ago. Things that should have been left to post-release experimentation for minor DLC are treated as shippable products to be sold. The wild expectations are entirely CIG's fault and are due to effort and sales pitches rather than a lack of effort.

So in total 61 jobs to fill.

If someone can digg back to the other update I did a couple of weeks back, it might give a hint about the fluctuation if any. Not that it is important at all.

CIG's only hope at this point is that SQ42 is actually really good.

Even better is when they expect things explicitly contrary to what has been stated (the best loot/money will be in lawless space, LTI won't matter, you won't be able to fly a Javelin/Idris by yourself and wtfpwn dirty pirates).

Anyone who posts anything dissenting on the forums gets probated or flat out banned. There have been content creators that have been banned from the RSI forums for posting something too critical (stupid_question_bot from reddit comes to mind).

The mods have created a bubble for the brown sea to live in and as soon as that bursts they are going to have to deal with reality which they are woefully unprepared for.

It's not uncommon for game studio's to have a large amount of openings available during a games development. This isn't out of the ordinary and doesn't say anything about Star Citizen really.

Justin Tyme

Why can't they just use some of those millions of dollars to license Planetside's netcode and get on with making the game? Why can't they just scrap the third person/first person camera synchronization that is giving them so much trouble to the point where it's still not finished and make the game just fun to play in first person while looking cool in third? Why not release early, release often rudimentary versions of Planetside, considering they already have REC purchasing and ArcCorp finished?

It seems like there's a lot of easy compromises they can make in the name of progress that they just aren't doing for god knows why.

A dynamic co-op campaign would be really cool. The flight sim Falcon 4.0 had something like this where you have a gigantic battlefield, it was you and some friends against an A.I. army advancing across a huge map. Star Citizen can do it where you have to capture solar systems by carrying out randomly generated missions against an AI or maybe even other players. But have it be small scale. like 16 - 24 players. There's no need for this 100000000 player poo poo that's never going to work and will only result in huge balance issues and server problems.
