Of course if you're buying any kind of Mosin your decision making capabilities are questionable at best anyways.

Larry Parrish posted:I shot my buddy's once. It's pretty fun to shoot but unless you order shady surplus ammo that corrodes the barrel apparently it's pretty expensive. Owning a Mosin is like the puberty stage of being a gun owner. And it's cool at first, like when you first discover how to bust a nut on your own. You pull the trigger, it goes bang, hard kick, big flash, and a watermelon explodes. And then you chuckle like a moron and do it again. But once you start trying to get any kind of decent accuracy out of it, it becomes very disappointing. Sure, you can buy new factory ammo, sure you can buy fancy pants stocks and such, but you're still shooting it out of a barrel that could have been soaked in cosmoline for longer than your father has been alive, or it could be a barrel that was roughly made, shot through WWII, and used as a prostate stimulator by desperate conscripts in Stalingrad. You just don't know. And you're paying to put lipstick on a pig when you could instead buy something modern for the same price as all that bling that will shoot accurately without nearly as much hassle. A buddy has one that has all the bling. Archangel stock, gunsmith-installed turned down bolt handle, muzzle brake, Timney trigger, etc. And it still wouldn't do better than a 4-5" group at 100y.

There's nothing wrong with buying old surplus guns so long as you realize that you're buying an old surplus gun. Garands are not hipster as gently caress, they're cool as poo poo.

They're taking orders at the CMP again. Service Grade is the best value/$ imo, but that's honestly pretty arbitrary if you just want it to shoot for fun, since the cheaper Field Grade ones function just fine. I expect you could flip it at a gun show for $500+ profit, especially in a year or however long it's going to take the CMP to sell out this time. I really wish I'd bought a carbine when they had them. https://thecmp.org/cmp_sales/rifle_sales/

I didn't get my garand through them, but I love it for what it is. Also, Prvi Partizan makes M1 specific ammunition to the old M2 ball spec. Modern commercial .30-06 is too hot, so do yourself a favor and buy the correct stuff so you don't gently caress up your oprod and more.

Yeah, I've got one of those, but honestly its just easier to buy a case of the right ammo when it's on sale if you're starting fresh.

Daredevil, Ant-man, and Guardians are the best poo poo Marvel has put out. Iron Man 1 is alright too. Everything else is a race to last place.
