How Darwinian posted:I never said the last three episodes are a dream. Hannibal is really in Florence and really killing people. Jack is really following up the leads. But Will is in Hannibal's mind palace. That doesn't make it all a dream. It just means that Will knows Hannibal so well that he can literally invade his mind. That's pushing the bounds of the supernatural, but Hannibal has never seemed to have a problem with that in the past anyway. You didn't directly say that but what you posted here... quote:Why is Will chasing Hannibal all on his own, and improbably jet-setting across Europe? Why was Abigail visible to the priest in the cathedral? How did Hannibal jet over to Palermo from Florence and back in time for dinner, without even knowing when Will would get there? Why does Jack say he is "here for Will", and the detective doesn't seem to mention having just spoken to Will a few days ago? ...seemed to suggest that you believed that Will never actually traveled to Europe, and never spoke to Pazzi.

King Vidiot posted:You didn't directly say that but what you posted here... Ahh, let me clarify then. Yes. I don't think Will ever traveled to Europe. Jack did though. Will's scenes with Pazzi took place in Hannibal's mind palace. Jack's scene with Pazzi took place in the real world. Jack said he is "here for Will", which could mean he is chasing him, or it could mean he is there on his behalf. I think it's the latter. Will being in Hannibal's mind palace doesn't mean that it's all a dream. If it were a dream then it would be internal to Will and of no consequence to anyone. If Will is in Hannibal's mind palace then what is happening is happening between Hannibal and Will.

If will never traveled to Europe then his whole transformation bit at the end of the episode meant nothing.

massive spider posted:I was totally confused by the mischa stuff because I couldn't remember if the series has mentioned her before and if the story is the same as book canon hannibal. Book hannibal did eat mischa, but in the context she was fed to him unwillingly. Is show h annibal implying he just killed her outright? I think they left it deliberately ambiguous in this episode. It may be clarified later on. On another note, of loving course Will actually went to Europe and actually met Pazzi and Chiyoh.

How Darwinian posted:If Will is in Hannibal's mind palace then what is happening is happening between Hannibal and Will. No. It wouldn't mean that. It would mean it was happening inside Hannibal's head and Will had nothing to do with it whatsoever. So you think the whole thing with Will saying he forgive Hannibal, and Hannibal having an emo breakdown about it to Bedelia, was all just Hannibal being delusional and pretending or imagining that he saw and heard Will? And Abigail was actually inside of fake Will's head inside of Hannibal's head? And all that crap with Will crouching in the woods avoiding Chiyoh was actually just Hannibal's imagination? What possible narrative purpose would any of that serve?

Maybe this is how Will and Hannibal are battling each other, except instead of swords they're swinging forks and spoons at each other https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AeeoEpmyb2Y

Hannibal is a trippy show but I don't think telepathy is part of its bag of tricks. Sounds like a good time for Amazon Prime to pick up the slack!

Fuller took it well Bryan Fuller posted:NBC has allowed us to craft a television series that no other broadcast network would have dared, and kept us on the air for three seasons despite Cancellation Bear Chow ratings and images that would have shredded the eyeballs of lesser Standards & Practices enforcers

Now I guess we'll see if all that stuff about other networks lining up to take it if it got dropped was true.

Yeah, can't say I didn't see that coming.

Hopefully they won't yank it before everything has aired.

Ah, yes, NBC must make room for a remake of Coach, another police procedural (starring Jennifer Lopez, no less) named Shades of Blue, Superstore, The Voice and a litany of other boring rote poo poo that appeals to the mouthbreathing Coke-swilling American demo I knew Hannibal was too good for network tv for a while so here's hoping Netflix/Prime/Hulu picks it up

Pretty sure he said that was because the material wasn't enough for 2 whole seasons. I mean, it might have been a smokescreen, but it might not have, too. I'm not super worried about the cancellation - I think we will probably see Amazon or some similar outlet pick it up.

Back when the show started, Fuller said his original plan was to do Red Dragon in 4, Silence of the Lambs in 5 if they ever got the rights from MGM, and then a wrap-up in season 6. That was the original road map, anyway.

The original plan was 3 seasons of prequel, then Seasons 4/5/6 adapting the books in chronological order, and then the new ending in S7.

I will be so upset if this show doesn't get picked up by Netflix or something. It's just too good to let die. At least they're going to air the rest of this season which is a blessing.

Isn't Fuller going to be working on that American Gods adaptation very soon? Would he still be the show runner on a (hypothetical) season 4 of Hannibal?

Welp NBC, that's me told. Still, I was most interested in Red Dragon so at least we'll get to see that! Amazon Prime does indeed already have a streaming deal, and I would be hella happy if they picked it up because it's easy to access and also that is the only account I have of the Hulu/Netflix/Prime triumvirate. I am old and behind the times, yes.

I'm strangely not too worried about it - it seems like a prime pickup for Netflix/Amazon/Etc.

Whether or not it gets picked up anywhere else, season 1 and 2 (especially the conclusion of 2) was the best television I've seen on a network for a long time. I tried watching an episode of Scandal recently and while not laughing at the absurdity of the script, composition, or dialogue, was trying to determine how the editor and cinematographer decided that having every third shot appear through a prism was a great framing technique. Hannibal has ruined all other TV for me, it all seems like banal poo poo. Everyone ready for another season of The Voice?!?!

el oso posted:I'm strangely not too worried about it - it seems like a prime pickup for Netflix/Amazon/Etc. Yeah same. Either or, this season is going to be a natural ending point, and if it continues in a streaming format, then awesome, otherwise we'd have gotten 3 seasons of really fantastic television really unlike anything else out there.

@DeLaurentiisCo: 2015-06-22 21:22:26 UTC #Hannibal was always in danger of cancellation due to subject matter, and others have expressed interest in partnering with us. I'm not too worried, this isn't a real shock to anyone and I remember Bryan Fuller mentioning Amazon being keen to pick them up should NBC cancel.

Yeah, I bet it won't get picked up. Call me pessimistic but I just have that feeling.

I am happy with three seasons of great TV. It'd be great if it was picked up but even if it isn't, I'm happy we got what we did.

Is all of Season 3 in the can? I know Fuller et al write each season as if it's the last (despite the cliffhanger stinger at the end of season 2) but It will be interesting to see just what the timbre of finality will be with this season.
