Rabbit Hill posted:It is! The visuals are insanely beautiful, and a lot of that is due to the incredible filming locations from all around the world. It's a good movie, too, starring a little 5-year-old girl who is genuinely adorable, and Lee Pace, who is also genuinely adorable. We need someone to pick up Hannibal just so Lee Pace can be in a future season.

I imagine he's pretty busy on Halt & Catch Fire, but I guess he's not playing a fantasy character with a deep voice in any movie foreseeably, so maybe there's a chance.

Lee Pace as Dolarhyde would've been great, but Richard Armitage is pretty good as well

That's unfortunate, I liked it, and don't really remember any misogyny or bad acting, although honestly I don't remember much of the movie besides the visuals, Mickey Roarke, and Mickey Roarke commanding an S&M minotaur to hammer a man's testicles.

They fast forwarded through whatsherface's recovery, so my grasp of time in the episode was a bit challenged. It was definitely snowy when Fishburne stopped by at Will's house in the beginning. Still, I am not that much of a boat person, but I envy the character's ability to just decide to sail across the globe. Fog Tripper fucked around with this message at 01:07 on Jul 1, 2015 |

Winter would be the best time to sail to Europe from the west as that's when the westerlies are strongest, assuming you don't go too far north or run into a storm.

Also, I know I'm a pussy Brit, but that bullet would not have stayed intact after hitting Fred's face, would it?

I don't remember what Crawford's gun was, but standard issue for FBI Special Agents seems to be 9mm Glocks.![]() Gabrille Giffords was a US congresswoman who was shot in the head with a 9mm Glock from some crazy nut. The bullet passed through her brain, but she somehow survived because I guess it didn't go through the center of the brain? Bullet seems to have remained intact all the way through, even after passing through the skull twice. But who knows, there are so many variables that I'm sure there are a few cases where the bullet did shatter and make a huge mess. I would assume it's a roll of the dice. edit: as a side note, bullets come in many designs, and some of them are designed to break apart or turn flat on impact to inflict maximum damage, but it seems most 9mm rounds are basic and simple and just punch through Steve Yun fucked around with this message at 02:06 on Jul 1, 2015 |

I am not a forensics expert but I am certain there are circumstances where it could do such a thing. That does not mean such a thing could have happened with this bullet, from that gun, or at that angle, considering it had to travel through at least one pane of glass before hitting Chilton's head. But Hannibal is built on artistic license.

Even better, it passed from the centre of his cheek to the base of his neck; it might not have even hit his brain. I remember spergs posting freeze-frames of his death the same week, which were bolstered by the dialogue's refusal to refer to him in the past tense.

I assume it didn't touch his brain at all, I just brought up the Gabriel Giffords example because in her case the bullet hit bone twice and didn't fragment. Weird thing was, the exit wound we saw on the back of Chilton's head was pretty massive, as much damage as I would assume a fragmented of flattened bullet would cause (I'm not a gun expert) but whatever. Artistic license, right?

For whoever asked, this is the music that plays when Will imagines helping Hannibal slit Jack's throat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATBwxG20Umc After a bit of wikipedia research it looks like another appropriate choice. It's meant to be part of a soundtrack to "Peer Gynt", a Norwegian play based partly on folklore. Aspects of this play include: dream sequences, considering what separates monster (troll) and man, and travelling abroad under an assumed identity to escape justice.

It was good to see Glenn Fleshler again as Mason's nurse, they had some interesting actors on Boardwalk Empire. If it comes back for season 4 I hope Michael Shannon plays Gumb.

Oh man. I was so optimistic about the show getting picked up but that is a really disheartening article. Then again, nothing with a cult following ever truly ends these days.

BreakAtmo posted:That stuff about American Gods is weird because Fuller already stated that he'd do both. That's why I'm not taking this article super seriously. I mean, right when it was cancelled, every article about it said "welp no more Hannibal" before everyone figured out that Hannibal had that weird international cofunding deal, meaning that NBC literally couldn't 'cancel' it singlehandedly. Then when some customer service guy at Amazon sent out form responses saying that Amazon wasn't interested in picking up existing content, everyone reported that as gospel before it became clear that Amazon was actually the top contender to pick it up and that guy was misinformed. They were never going to resolve this in ten days. The actors were always going to be released from the contracts before it was picked up again. The fact that they started shopping it around once it was cancelled, despite knowing that the actors' contracts were expiring, means they think it could be picked back up AND that the actors' contracts could be renegotiated.

It's going to be 2020 and people will still swear it's back any day now. I'm just hanging on for these next 9 or 10 episodes. We know when the ride's ending now, but that doesn't mean it won't be a hell of a ride. And that's the best and most you should hope for, ultimately.
