lol if your reaction to this season has been "I can't believe they cancelled this!" and not "No wonder they cancelled this".

I mean I'm glad this crazy-rear end show exists, but I am surprised it got as many seasons as it did.

La-Li-Lu-Le-Lo

I'd have liked it to have gone further and more extreme, but if half of the fans in this thread weep in the pretentiousness of it all I doubt we'll see anything like this this decade, for television anyway.

Oh well. Really dug the last episode, from Hannibal staggering back from a rave to 'transubstantiation' to Will getting a saw to the head. I'd forgotten how exciting the show can be, but when I think to its stronger episodes, like the girl who thought she was dead or the season 2 finale, I remember how it can make me react rather than just sitting there watching some nonsense. Although the show is a bit of nonsense, it's a good kind. Ever since the second episode of the first season the show has been quite strange and never really made any hint at being 'Sherlock but if he was bad'. Although it could just be that, I'd say the show is more towards Lynch than Moffat.

I can't even remember what happened to Freddie Lounds in seasons past(she's still alive, right?), but is there any word whether or not we'll get to see that part of the Red Dragon story?

The scripted series will air from 9 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, flipping timeslots with the net’s popular “Dateline Saturday Mystery” crime franchise. H.P. Shivcraft posted:

My hunch, given the way the plots are getting jumbled from the books, is thus:

We're going to get a Red Dragon arc that plays like Silence of the Lambs. We'll have all the stuff with Dolarhyde instead of Gumb, and we'll eventually have Hannibal escaping, as he does in Silence. The season will end with the ending of the book Hannibal, (spoilered for book stuff) but with Will swapped in for Clarice -- that is, Hannibal will escape and Will joins him.

This might be a little too tidy, but Fuller has gone on record saying that if there is a "next" season it would be about Hannibal and Will's relationship, and well, if they're on the run together, yeah, of course it would be. And of course, that ending is the part that feels like most of a hazarded guess/bullshit even to me, but I really think doing Red Dragon in the style of Silence is precisely the sort of trick Fuller would be all over.

Tuxedo Catfish posted:

That would be awful, and would make me feel like an idiot for ever defending the show.

You know, instead of doing the conclusion of that arc in the book (Clarice and Hannibal live it up in Argentina), they could do the beginning of it (Hannibal is holding Clarice captive and drugging/brainwashing her). I mean, a version of that basically already happened in season one, but now the relationship is way different and Will is aware of everything, and also we've seen Miriam so we know how effective Hannibal can be at brainwashing.

And actually, since that plot in the book included extended conversations with dead people, that would give them the excuse to bring back basically any character they wanted from the whole run of the show, which Fuller would obviously have a field day with.

You're dumb and wrong, but it should be pointed out Bryan Fuller had nothing to do with Dead Like Me after the first five episodes.

So while Hannibal starts cutting open Will's head, we get this image:

I'm not sure what I'm looking at, but my guess is that the sky is the dome inside Will's head, and the red stripe across the sky is the cut that Hannibal is making to get in.

Kind of like the end of the 1990 Total Recall, where the camera stares at the sun in the sky, and people interpreted it as the drill that the doctors were using to give Quaid a lobotomy
