“I think that should that be our farewell, it would be a fitting one,” Dancy told TV Line. “But you could’ve said the same thing about the end of the first season and the end of the second season. Bryan has described to me what he had envisioned moving forward into the next season which would be justified by the way we end this year. But it’ll be a big splash.” Well played, Hugh Dancy.

How anyone thinks Bedelia cooked herself is beyond me. Steve Yun posted:My understanding of what was going on in Will's head in the ending: This is pretty spot on as well. That conflict between Will never ends. Both obviously would survive to the next season if the show had continued. And we have two empty seats at the Obviously Chef is Hannibal dinner table at the end, showing we now have Murder Husbands.

mortons stork posted:Of course Hannibal had to win again. ugh. I feel sorry for Jack, honestly, he's spent 3 seasons being played like Hannibal's personal harpsichord and now even by Will + the guy they're supposed to catch. I sincerely hoped that the Hannibal punch-out clockwork orange style would be a metaphor for the season, seeing him slowly beaten down and his façade of invincibility demolished, but nope, showrunners really have a hard-on for their mary sue invincible cannibal killer. My pet theory is that Thomas Harris based Hannibal on Doc Savage, the pulp hero from the 1930s. The resemblance is too perfect, right down to strangely-coloured eyes and an unbelievably-honed sense of smell and taste, traits Savage also exhibited. Hannibal is essentially a supervillain who is impossibly good at stuff. Especially in the novels, where he is depicted as a man in his 60s who has spent years in prison, but who nonetheless is as dangerous as a wild beast with his bare hands. codo27 posted:I agree the song was weak. I just watched Mizumono again to see how it compared to the series finale. It was interesting to note some parallels between it and the finale: - Jack once again greenlighting an insane trap to catch the killer. After the last time, how the hell would he get the clearance to try this again? - Hannibal and Will's conversation about changing each other vs Dolarhyde wanting to change Hannibal - The imago discussion paralleling Dolarhyde's final stage of becoming - Hannibal gutting Will, Will gutting Dolarhyde; Hannibal cutting Abigail's throat, Hannibal ripping out Dolarhyde's throat I'm sure there's more as well. Loved the finale but it doesn't quite come close to the level of Mizumono, which is absolutely the apex of this series.

I replayed that last scene muted with Karliene's "Become The Beast" and actually thought it was more perfect, right down to going the exact same length and having perfect expressions/camera shots in time with character-specific lyrics https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmVzeriU5m0

It is just getting sillier and sillier. If NBC was able to see the last few EPs before making their decision to cancel, I can almost understand the show getting the hook. I am compelled to watch to the end at this point, but not because it is as good as the first 2 seasons. Kind of bummed I see it as I do, but it is what it is.

I don't know why my brain went to "well, if they didn't survive, maybe she got a taste for human flesh and wants to eat her own leg." I don't know, I didn't even try for that. She was looking so drat doped up, with the Starling dress and the heavy breathing, just like Moore's portrayal post-Hannibal-jail-escape. I like it. Fuller does the allusions very well; sometimes subtle, sometimes word-for-word. I think I like the finale.. Oh, if only it weren't canceled.

Although, come to think of it, Hannibal never actually fed her people. The veal at the end of season 1 wasn't Abigail, and she got fattened all through Italy.

I rolled my eyes at most of this show but god drat if that wasn't one of the best series finales for a television program that I've ever seen. Absolutely awesome development of characters into an incredible finish. I think one of the reasons it was so great for me was because I thought they were going to do some stupid bullshit where they were going to pull out another season on us and Will/Hannibal were going to run off together. Just a great piece of television all around.

I'm mostly just giving a hard time to the more egregious poo poo posters who 'analyze' every little thing about this extremely mediocre show then don't see something that wasn't even particularly subtle to begin with. First the show has a running theme of lazy writing where if you don't see the person die on camera they're usually not dead. Abigail, Freddie, etc. Jesus gently caress there was even a fakeout death in the very final episode with Tooth Fairy. Then you literally have a song that doesn't stop droning on and on about I WILLLLL SUUUURVIIIIIIIIIVE the whole time they're going over the cliff that we conveniently don't see bodies of, then you have Bedelia getting chopped up and some of you were seriously thinking it was "open to interpretation". Goons are the absolute worst.

Oh, the song was plain bad, and Jack and Alana are too dumb to exist, but overall I'm still satisfied.

Also, of course, it's not "goons" who have been championing this show - pretty much every TV reviewer loving loves this show, even while acknowledging the parts that don't work so well.

Okay yeah absolutely agreed on that Also Jack being the dumbest of agents is the best ongoing theme The look on his face when he says Will and Hannibal ran off together was perfect. Like "I'm mad I didn't see this coming but I can't even pretend to be surprised at this"

gently caress you goons the show was really good and way better than most drivel they show on TV. If you don't like it that's fine but don't try to convince me you lovely opinion is gospel. There's definitely a large segment of goons who doesn't really care about certain things, but to troll other goons poo poo on them. Particularly in this forum. I remember longingly the days where SA trolled other people/PLACES but not fellow goons. And when threadshitting got you, in turn, shat upon. If they had something legitimate to say about the quality of the show (or anything else) they might make a compelling, polite argument. It's the blatant rudeness that should be seen -- very transparent -- as the bait. If there's bait, it's trolling and not a legitimate attempt at discussion or criticism. Rule #1 of the internet, from like 1979 usenet, seems to have been forgotten. Sometimes I myself am guilty. DONT FEED THE TROLLS.
