When I watched my recorded version it was Armstrong/Cosby/Brady. Maybe its different by market or something? Would be weird, but who knows.

You know I was surprised that they showed any of the gay scene with Tyrell just because I don't think I've ever seen actual gay sex depicted so graphically on TV outside of like HBO or something. I mean you didn't really see anything but it was very clear and explicit what was going on and that surprised me. Not bad at all, no complaints or anything, just surprising to see so explicitly referenced buttsex.

For me, it evokes a big brother vibe, which I guess makes sense as this show does like having a weird dystopic feel at times, probably ties into the show's whole "system is hosed, tear it down" theme too to have that pic at the bad guy headquarters

The Tom Brady thing is quite a bit more recent than the others, maybe they threw that in there at the last second since this show seems to place a pretty high premium on being up to date and accurate.

I don't know I think there have been scenes with Tom Brady interacting with different people so it doesn't really make sense if he's a ghost.

You know upon rewatching the first episode, the censoring almost created a new "clue" or red herring that fsociety is a construct of Eliott's mind. In the first scene between his psychiatrist and him she kept talking about society over and over and in his head he kept thinking out loud "gently caress society" except with censoring it became "F--- society" audibly and in the captions. I thought this was a neat little coincidence if it wasn't intentional. This scene preceded the one where he goes to fsociety with Mr. Robot for the first time. The only people in the audience who still remember them as the evil empire are goons like us. There's obviously no one company Evil Corp is based on (other than their Enron logo), but if Facebook started running ads during the show I'd love it.

Cpt.Wacky posted:Mr. Robot IS real but sometimes the one Elliot talks to isn't. This makes the most sense. I like this one the most. Let's go with this. That said, I actually wanted to come in here the next time someone talked about Durden to say "You know what, it's hard to even care anymore because either they'll tell us he is fake and we'll roll our eyes and go "I knew it!" or they'll tell us he's real and we'll go "Huh, I guess I was wrong!" and we'll stop caring because the rest of the show is too good to care." But the idea that he's sometimes real and sometimes fake is a good middle ground that I'll stick with. Accretionist posted:Haha, I didn't notice any of that. I felt it, but it didn't really register. Well, Eliot did specifically call out Steve Jobs during the first episode so maybe Microsoft is using that for justification. Probably not tho. It's just a tech company advertising during a show based on geeks. Makes sense really.

Cpt.Wacky posted:Mr. Robot IS real but sometimes the one Elliot talks to isn't. I actually think that'd be the best approach for the show to take. Everyone's assuming it has to be a Durden situation or he has to be real. Go with the middle ground, maybe do a fancy reveal with him talking to Mr. Robot and another Mr. Robot sits down next to him and talks to him, and from then on you can play with ambiguity about which version he's interacting with. This fills in a lot of gaps as well. When Mr. Robot is trashing stuff at Fsociety following the big break-in at the super secure servers, he could really be doing that, rather than in a Durden situation it actually being Elliot while who we see as "Elliot" is standing silent in the background. When he's showing up at his work and all the other weird times they're interacting in public and he's not acknowledged, that's the Head Robot. Also, during the break-in maybe both were talking to him. The Real Robot is giving him instructions on where to go and how he has to tear apart that fat tour guide, but the Head Robot is the one who cuts in and says "don't apologize" for instance. So yeah, I like this theory, at least it's something different.

Cpt.Wacky posted:Mr. Robot IS real but sometimes the one Elliot talks to isn't. That makes sense, he saw a man with the Mr. Robot jacket and imagined him into the kind of super hacker leader he wants to exist. At the end we meet the actual Christian Slater character who is a taxi driver and knows nothing about computers. I really hope we get to see Michael Cristofer again, I was delighted to see Truxton Spangler and have him comment on someone's tie. Maybe he's the alpha executive that put Scott into a tiny corner of the frame.

He was the secretary with knowledge of who was being interviewed for the CTO position and the outcome. When Tyrell arrived for his interview with the CEO and the CEO said he needs to postpone, he turned to the secretary and said "book mr tyrell 2 weeks from now" so that's how tyrell got the social engineering idea. He researched him, found out he was gay, figured out where he hangs out, went there and seduced him.
