Let's try SLACK! This is a new experimental Mafia game experience and I need 13 brave volunteers. Rather than being played on the forum, this game instead will play out over the team communication platform Slack. There can be multiple communication and discussion channels, emoji reactions to posts, automated statistics, indexing of namedrops, searchable text, and who knows what other new ways to play will emerge...

Players should install the Slack app on their mobile devices, and use the Slack page to play. I have no experience with Slack and I have no idea whether it will be awesome or terrible as a platform for Mafia! There's no better way to find out than to just try.

Slack Mafia #1 is a flavorless open-setup Mafia game for 13 players. There will be a Town Cop, a Town Doctor, 8 Vanilla Townies, a Scum Godfather, a Scum Roleblocker, and a Scum Goon. Days will be 48 hours, nights 24 hours, majority lynch.

This thread is only for signups. Sign up to be invited to the Slack. This will require an EMAIL ADDRESS, so PM your email to me if you sign up. When the roster's full this thread will close. It may be possible to share the game publicly afterward through Slack, I don't know!

NOTE: Since this game will be offsite, you may choose to escape your meta and play under a new identity! You can PM me directly with your email (your email will show up in slack so you might want to make a throwaway) and I will put you on the roster here as ~Secret Mystery Player~, and you can choose whatever fresh name you want in the Slack.

If any of the publicly signed-up people want to become secret, let me know and it can be arranged. I mean, it'll be known you're here but we can obfuscate who's-who before launch if it'd be more fun for you that way.

I would like to be a Secret Mystery Player. No one will know who I am, so I can just vote PMom because it feels soooo good.

Here is where you can reveal your secret identities if you wish. Also I would like some discussion about the format, what you felt was good or bad, whether you'd be interested in playing again this way, and whatever else comes to mind.

I really enjoyed the format. The reactions were fun (although they didn't end up getting used much after the early game). Being able to split out cases into other channels was nice for keeping things straight and easy to reference. It also meant you could keep the off topic chat in other channels. You could be casing someone seriously and then also talking about what is on netflix which I thought is a good reminder that this is supposed to be a game we play for fun. The only problem was the quoting system being a little hokey.

I'd definitely play in this format again.

You turn the corner and see a greenskinned fuckmidget.
Roll for initiative.

So, I was in this game

I basically signed up in secret to do an experiment on what would happen if I did everything the exact opposite of what my first instinct told me to do.

So when fake merk was shitposting instead of my first reaction, join in, I id the opposite, bitch and rant about it.

When I thought someone was scum instead of just saying they were scum and replying with it was gut or something similar I tried to make cases even though it was just my gut.

If someone said I was scum instead of calling them idiots I tried to defend myself.

Oh man I got you guys GOOD.

Hahaha CPig, that's hilarious. I had absolutely no idea.

I was scumhunter and wanted to see if my meta was protecting me. Turns out it is since I got a lot of heat D1 that I never would have gotten if I was playing as myself since I was so active.

The format was pretty good, but I agree that quoting is a pain. I think if we had done the case channels from the start it would have been a lot easier.
