Let's hear the studio's take on it: quote:The Weathered Underground is A Groundbreaking interactive DVD that plays like a video version of the "Choose Your Own Adventure Books" as the story follows 21 Year old Eric (the character whom the audience makes choices for) as he deals with a skull crunching breakup. Eric is a struggling musician who works a side job and just broke up with the greatest love of his life, the somewhat insane yet adorable Liz. Now you, the viewer, must guide Eric through one insane evening with Criminals, Drugs and Damsels while deciding whether Eric will win back the love of his life or crumble into Moral Decay... his fate is now in your hands. The Weathered Underground allows the viewer via remote control or mouse (online) to control the story ultimately choosing a story of redemption or debauchery. In real life, TWU is the adventure of Eric, a guy who spins in place a lot while having insane adventures that you can't see very well because of all the photoshop filters. It was released on a DVD, and I bought it, and now we're going to experience it all together. Your votes will determine Eric's choices! As the box helpfully asks us, will you "shoot your way out" or "whine like a wuss"? Editor's note: Eric does not have a shootout in this game as far as I know. But "it's addictive," so that may not matter. That pull quote isn't attributed to anyone, by the way, even though it's listed on the box along with the other ones (like the succinct description "groundbreaking," which is literally attributed to a Yahoo.com poster). I want to explain some things about this DVD, though. The footage is all 16:9 widescreen, which would be fine if it weren't letterboxed on the dvd itself, meaning that if you watch it on an actual widescreen tv you'll get a tiny box in the middle of your television screen. But not everything is letterboxed! The opening credits were fullscreen 4:3, except for the webcam parts which were 16:9, and the ending credits are not fullscreen but the trailer included on the dvd is, and it's just this bizarre mess of a release that I don't understand at all. But if you were wondering why the video looks so crap, well, that's part of it.
