An optimist might think that Roberts was being entirely genuine with all those dates and saying the game would cost 20 million and things just spiralled out of control. I think he saw how much money he could make by just promising things and selling jpegs and so is riding that train as far as it will go while desperately hoping it will last another 2 weeks at a time.
