I am loving ON BOARD for a fascist propaganda Godzilla movie. You couldn't sell me harder on the movie if you tried.

I can't add anything more unfortunately. That person hated the movie though and said it was as bad as Attack on Titan FWIW. I could do with a recommendation. I watched a whole bunch of Godzilla films I rented on VHS from my local library as a kid, but all the memories of them have blurred into one enjoyable mess and I don't really remember which ones I specifically saw anymore (besides Mothra vs. Godzilla, which was my favourite.) Anyway, I have a regular movie night with some friends where we tend to watch films that trend towards the funnier-goofier side of things and get drunk. Good times. I was wondering if someone could recommend a Godzilla film with some silly moments that would be good to watch with friends and drinks please?

Uncle Boogeyman posted:Godzilla vs Hedorah kicks so much rear end and I still wonder why it hasn't caught on in the midnight movie circuit I don't think Toho has a 35mm print for rental. They also charge (regardless of format) a lot per screening. Combo that with while Toho really likes the AIP (they even have a beat to poo poo print of it in their LA offices) dub they won't allow any release of that for fear of getting sued by someone coming out of the woodwork (dubber), might explain why it's not being played a lot.

I had a feeling that first part might be the case, that's a shame.

My Drafthouse showed it back in 2013. I think it was a film print with the International dub.

Random question...does anyone know if there's a subtitled version of Godzilla Island, that crappy showmercial Toho made in the late 90s to sell toys? There are DVDs kicking around, and the daily alternative to youtube has unsubbed episodes. Please disregard if this question is to much into ![]()

The bad guys are cockroach people from space and Godzilla speaks!

The whole opening with the human characters is silly. Most of the stuff on both islands is silly. And who can go wrong when "I know ! Let's wake up Godzilla !" is a reasonable solution to the character's predicament ?

K. Waste posted:Gonna shamelessly promote a series of video essays I'm doing called Devotional Criticism which is giant monster-related: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MCseZLVxBQ I'll just quote this sentence from your video: "Given that the British fantasy film Gorgo was not only released within the same year, but also preceded Mothra by several months, it is possible to hypothesise that this natural selection for monster survival was not coincidental, but rooted in a collective unconscious and universal renegotiation with dominant values in the wake of the Second World War." Your delivery is stiff because you're clearly just reading from a script. Every second sentence is really long and filled with loaded terminology, which makes it hard to follow your train of thought. That sentence specifically is a loaded bombshell of a statement. It comes out of nowhere, and it goes nowhere. Please focus on one topic for more than ten seconds. I'd also urge you to make the subject matter seem less dry. Maybe focus on one thing you want to talk about, and really put effort into making it interesting. Also, you let satan narrate your other video. ![]()

I've got a lot of constructive stuff on my delivery needing to be more conversational in genchat, but what you're saying is also important: I need to tighten it up, cut some of the digressions. Just so it's not only shameless self-promotion, Mothra is loving good go watch Mothra.

Hedorah is the best monster from the 60/70s era. Easily my favorite of the Showa era films. Movie is so TRIPPY.

Gigan is my favorite from that era outside of Ghidorah maybe. Intergalactic cyborg space chickens are cool.
