Someone posted on the MST3K subreddit a few months ago that they’d been working on upscaling the old episodes, and were wondering what people thought about posting them somewhere, since the legality was questionable at best, but Ivan commented that they might be able to work something out to put them out there legally.

It's a cool value-added addition to have for Gizmoplex.com, and presumably it can be mostly automated. If it sharpens the picture 99.5% of the time and fucks things up a little bit 0.5% of the time, who gives a poo poo. This isn't something sacred, it's a puppet show.

I'm watching Master Ninja 1 and Crow's net just falls off about 35 minutes into the movie, even makes a noise. Love it when I notice new stuff like this.

One of my favorite things in the older episodes is when a bot starts to randomly fall apart and they just roll with it. I also loved on rare occasion when Joel would get so mad at Crow he’d just begin tearing off random parts and tossing them across the theater.

No, Jimmy's parents are wealthy drunks and don't commit suicide because they're complete fuckups like Marvin's dad. Jimmy is an unwitting moron to his crimes, not the mastermind to get the money, the respect, and the girl. Mr. Blake gets accidentally shot and killed in the struggle to disarm him, but it's okay because he was the real villain. In High School Big Shot, EVERYBODY dies or is completely ruined.

I Accuse My Parents is a pretty standard juvenile delinquency tale that was popular in the 40s and 50s. High School Big Shot feels like an adaptation of a paperback crime thriller which were full of bleak little stories like that where nobody wins.

I'm pretty sure the new short has a companion piece with a very old Rifftrax short about carnivorous plants. It does pretty much the same thing where it starts out talking about the science and then all of a sudden gets religious.
