OK so the turkeython is riddled with 2 minute breaks, I'm assuming that these are ad breaks that I'm not seeing because I have premium?

1) To probably pad out the movies to keep the scheduled movie times (x movie at y-o-clock) steady

and

2) Some kind of IRL break to step away for things? I dunno.

Last week's Rifftrax drop was a movie by this guy! :haw:

That movie (Little Lost Sea Serpent) is very weird. It reused the baby ghost puppet as the baby sea serpent and the movie barely had a plot. Two kids find a sea serpent, take it home and then release it back to the ocean. There's almost a conflict when Joe Estevez wants to do a story on the creature but that's relegated to the very end of the movie and he gives up really quickly. The filmmaker seemed to realize this and added in a weird couple of characters who are constantly off screen from everyone and everything and commenting on everything happening.

The latter, the first one was a movie compilation of a Japanese TV show but I'm not sure about the second

In fact, the Japanese version is more coherent than the dub (he’s not saying their weapons are literally useless, he’s just commenting it’s pointless for them to try and hit him because he’s too quick). It also has a young Chikao Ohtsuka playing Krankor

From what I understand it’s basically a Jack Frost situation where a lot of the film’s major issues stem directly from the English version (correct me if I’m wrong though)

Something Weird video has been uploading tons of content to their YouTube channel, some of which you’ve seen on MST3K or Rifftrax. They uploaded lots of short film compilations of different types: school stuff, work stuff, other oddities.

They’ve also started uploading full movies. Right now it’s several late 50’s/early 60’s exploitation b-movie types. A couple of these have been episodes of MST3K: High School Big Shot and The Girl in Lover’s Lane.

If you like MST3k, you’ll probably dig the channel.

(When I was recording Neptune Men as a teenager on an unfamiliar VCR, I biffed it and had the thing set to SP instead of SLP on a tape that already had two hours and change used up. So, for years and years, that line was basically the end of the episode as I knew it...even having watched the whole thing multiple times now, the back half is like a surprise to me, every time.)

Somebody with direct online access to Central has been transferring large amounts of explosives and simply...covering the requisitions. I wouldn't have found out about it unless Central asked me to confirm acceptance of 100 units of chemo-plastic and atomic compounds. I mean, that's crazy! Can you imagine that amount of explosive lying around the ship's engine room?

This happened a few weeks ago but RIP Jonathan Haze, who appeared in five different MST3K movies, but was probably best known for playing Seymour in the original Little Shop of Horrors. He worked with Roger Corman on more than twenty movies, truly the Max von Sydow to Corman's Ingmar Bergman. He was 95.

Also RIP Earl Holliman, who would have been William Shatner had there not already been one. He was never really on MST3K but he was in the very first episode of The Twilight Zone, "Where is Everybody?", and he was the cook in Forbidden Planet who gets Robby the Robot to replicate lots of liquor for him. He was 96.
