Bustelo for me, that poo poo is foul

Too many breakfasts back when I was broke that consisted of pieces of maple flavoured tempeh on toast past its sell by date and giant mugs of bustelo

Just pour some citric acid in whatever you’re drinking.

This is also why I’ve taken to the Ultra Golds, as they have significantly less.

Thanks to technology, most coffee machines come with a "clock" and "timer" - you can actually prepare the coffee and water the night before, and set it to be brewed and ready for you when you wake up in the morning! Has humanity gone too far? Perhaps, but I'll sleep well knowing I can roll out of bed in the morning, pour myself a piping hot cup of coffee, and smile as I sip it and watch the mushroom clouds from my window.

Kalamazoo visit today specifically to snag a Kirkland Signature sweatshirt I've seen people posting online. They didn't have any. :( I asked a front end guy and he said "Yeah, I know about those, but we don't have them" I'm hoping he meant "yet" and I can check back in a couple weeks (I live kinda far). I want one!

Lots of Kirkland and name brand TP and paper towels and I did not see a limit sign, but only needed 1 of each anyway.
Did not shop for meat, which I know has jumped in price, especially beef.
I didn't see too many higher prices, maybe .50 or $1 from a month ago, (and older receipts from a year ago) and most were still the same for my regular paper and cleaning products and basic pantry items. Everything appeared well stocked and available. Was a quick trip so didn't check all the aisles.

One big price jump though was the 4 pack of bacon. A year ago $13.99, in July $18.99, today $21.99 :aaa:

Luckily, I'm well stocked here and didn't need much today. Chest freezer is filled. :D

I want that sweatshirt dammit! :swoon:

Costco sells their fuel based on the price it was when they bought it. Most others update their prices on the fly.

:agreed:, aeropress is the bomb. Good grinder is nice too but not totally necessary if you just buy fresh grounds regularly.

I picked up a cheap burr grinder (upped my game) and a larger french press and am doing just fine with that. I didn't use a french press for a while because it's messy and hard to clean but I just got a sieve and I can rinse it out in my sink, dump it into the sieve, and throw the grounds away after it drains for a while. I used the Clever Coffee Pot for a few years and that's nice too.

:discourse:

Also there is a goon who sells coffee in SA Mart. I purchased some and have been pleased.

Like a haro? or something like that? yeah if you are going to go in for actual coffee the key is using a burr grinder literally moments before you brew it, and using water that is as hot as possible. Definitely agree on the french presses being a loving MESS, but perhaps more convenient than a pour over if you're serving like 3-4 people. They are more of a pain in the butt if you want to make more than one cup at a time though I will admit. So just buy two, they are cheap.

I bought an Aeropress and a good burr grinder in early 2020 thinking 'ok this is a bit of an excessive thing but whatever' and I gotta tell you in hindsight I don't regret it one bit.

My local Costco is finally putting in a gas station.

I'm thrilled for cheap-ish and convenient fuel, but terrified of parking lot idiots.

FogHelmut

The gas station is typically well organized. Except in Irvine where the line for gas goes through the middle of the parking lot.

Parking lot chaos is due to lazy people settling down in the middle of the aisle waiting for someone to load up their car and leave, then blocking that person from backing out, instead of just finding one of the many open spots and walking an extra 20 feet.

Pro tip: the best parking spots are nearest the cart returns.

Sounds a lot like Madison Heights outside Detroit. It's part of the reason I rarely get gas at Costco, the lines are just stupid and the configuration for everything is awful. But god drat that gas is cheap and I'll get it every chance I get.

Yeah, I usually only gas up there if the lines are short. It's odd some older relatives will only get gas there then complain about having to wait 20 minutes in a line going down the street because it's the day before Thanksgiving. Just pay the extra $3 at the empty Shell station down the street.

I used to live by that Costco and I was fortunate that my schedule allowed me to be able to go there during the week at like 2pm when it was only slightly busy. Now I live by another Costco that is possibly even busier than the one in Madison Heights, and while that gas station is super busy as well at least it doesn't really gently caress up the parking lot.

This is actually very true. There's a perfect spot that literally no one parks at because it's a little too far from the store, so it's basically been mine for a couple of years now.

I'm a big quantity coffee over small-condensed coffee since i like to sip it during a morning commute or while waking up in the morning for a good 15 minutes. I used to do the AeroPress but it was just a bit too much hassle to finagle while blurry-eyed tired in the morning and didn't make enough. one day i accidentally threw out the bottom cap and just went with an CleverCup and haven't looked back. basically all the ease of a french press, good taste of like an AP, and makes a good-size cup of coffee without much fuss.

AP was good for what it was though, just not what i want out of coffee: where i want a giant cup that tastes good and not-watery with least amount of effort possible.
