so, what is the hierarchy of costco potstickers? you’ve got the bibigo mandu, the bibigo chicken, and the ling ling chicken, how do they rank

You left off the Ling Ling Pork, you monster.

The mandu are the best imo, pan fry them in some sesame oil.

I had that Irish stew two days ago and it was ok. I didn't realize but it was freaking $20. Not worth it.

20 dollars for a stew with guiness in it is criminal.

The guy at the returns counter saw them set down and immediately knew. Apparently everybody hates them. It's like cat food but more watery and less satisfying. The Bibigo wontons win for me too because they are the lowest caloric form of dumpling I've seen. They're small but you could eat 40 of them for 500 calories

Gaius Marius posted:20 dollars for a stew with guiness in it is criminal. Normal Guinness and the Nitro Draft cans are both piss. Like it seriously tastes like they added about 25% water to a stout. It’s really such a shame because (a) Guinness actually makes some solid stuff, the Export Stout is great and the Anniversary Export Stout was great when it was around, and (b) the rest of the Irish Pub Pack is totally drinkable and it’s a pretty good value at close to a buck a beer. Like what the gently caress do I do with this one random pisswater out of the pack? I am picky about beer so I actually end up having that problem a lot with the costco variety packs. I really don’t like several of the popular hop strains (Hazy, Juicy, Mosaic, and most Citras) but the variety packs are still sometimes good enough deals to make it worth it. I think I have like three of each of the sixers of the tan and blue cans from the Sierra Nevada pack because it is cheaper to drink the 12 I like out of the pack than to buy a case of 12 at the store. If someone in Michigan wants a bunch of leftovers lemme know lol. I’m pretty sure the actual draft guinness in europe is different and stronger than what’s sold here (even as the “draft” cans). Or maybe they just have terrible taste idk. But it’s a shame because we have bells here and Kalamazoo Stout or Double Cream Stout absolutely knock the socks off Guinness even in that style, and you’ve got tons of great brown ale and oatmeal stouts and so on. Would really love to see Costco pick up more Bells (besides two-hearted) and Arcadia. We’ve got such great beer around here. Paul MaudDib fucked around with this message at 03:23 on Feb 4, 2022 |

Thinking of getting some window shades during the sale this month. I’d gotten the whole house measured by another company and was ready to have some installed back in March 2020, but uh that month got a bit crazy. I realized I still have a spreadsheet of all the measurements in their quote soooo… Any suggestions between cordless cellular shades, wood blinds, and roman shades for living areas? We have toddlers.

I realized I still have a spreadsheet of all the measurements in their quote soooo… I got them at Lowes, but we redid almost our entire upstairs with Levelor blinds. We went for the light-blocking ones in most rooms and they do an admirable job aside from some unavoidable minor bleed on the sides of the window. They are very easy to operate and extremely durable - the whole reason we went with them was because our previous rental home had them and they stood up to our toddler doing his best to destroy them.

One of the main reasons I shopped at Sam's Club was for their store brand instant coffee, which was legitimately better quality then most coffee you can make yourself much less any chain coffee stores. I switched to decaf during the pandemic since I was drinking 10-15 cups a day when working from home. So Kirkland finally rolls out their own brand of instant coffee, and it looks like it'll be just as good if not better but alas, they don't sell a decaf version. Thankfully they're now carrying 12 oz bags of matcha powder for $20 so I can just be a fair bit more economical with how much hot drinks I consume.

The idea that instant can be better than freshly ground beans seems like such an outrageous idea to me.

On a recent business trip to Southern California, I stopped at a Costco Business Center due to always hearing of this mythical place but never experiencing it. Now I know where to go should I need excellently priced 100lbs boxes of lard. Twas a fun place to visit, but I am glad it is not the closest Church to me. However the gas pumps were completely empty, probably due to the lack of consumer-sized goods at this place. I was so thankful for that when refilling my rental car’s tank. The Costco Gas by the rental return was like 10 SUVs deep on each waiting line for every lane.

I read somewhere that the main reason instant coffee was crap is that the brands aimed for lowest cost possible and that meant extracting beans multiple times to get as much of the soluble matter as possible.

I realized I still have a spreadsheet of all the measurements in their quote soooo… I have no children so everything I have has cords. At a project I worked on we installed cordless faux wood blinds and they were heavy to operate, which was too bad since it was an assisted living. Roman shades are great and dark which is nice. And I think the fabric is beneficial on reducing sound reflection. I put faux wood in the upstairs bedrooms and office, and real wood downstairs. The ones without holes are worth it as an upgrade. You'll have them for many years and not miss the $$ that you spent on that upgrade I think.

cordless cellular are really nice, and you can often get them in different opaqueness levels, so you can have blackout in the bedroom but light filtering in the living room or whatever.
