Doxxing actually means revealing information which is otherwise hidden about a person, usually personal info. What he did is not doxxing but fear dictates the rules of the internet nowdays. Safe places, etc. E: Before somebody comes in with tired shtick like "oh ho ho look at these people who defend Derek," I am not defending him. Just stating what doxxing actually is vs. what manbabies define it to be.

Derek's gone a long way to alienate most of the thread so honestly I'm surprised it took this long for someone to finally be fed up enough with him to just perma him If you can get perma'd for jokingly threatening to assassinate Trump via unbirthing then sure you can get perma'd for getting on a mod's nerves by doing the doxxing equivalent of "I'm not touching you, I'm not touching you" for loving years.

The upshot is that goons are gonna goon and there's always going to be some obsessive smoothbrain who takes "someone posted IRL info of someone" as fair game to pull some 4chan level poo poo, then the cops get involved, then the FBI is calling Lowtax for post histories and Lowtax traditionally takes a dim view of having some rear end in a top hat on the forums making him have to deal with the FBI. So now most mods tend to err on the side of "not letting it get to a point where lowtax has to get involved". IRL names, addresses etc. tend to be no-nos, even if they're "easily" found because if said smoothbrains actually go hunting then at least SA isn't involved in publicizing the stuff. That said, lowtax has resurrected derek for shits and giggles before so  what adventures tomorrow will bring

If you link a real name (or other identifying information) to someone who was otherwise known as "Toops", "MoMA", "alf_pogs" or other silly handle, that's doxxing. It has really little to do with the information being hidden or public or whatever, if someone uses a handle then don't go sniffing.
