Well if the judge knew anything she would have dismissed it with prejudice immediately and made crytek pay CIG's legal bills plus a few million for the inconvenience and then liquidate the company and give everything to CIG as a penalty for bringing such a frivolous and malicious action and then Derp Shart would have been indicted on charges of tortious interference and conspiracy to commit corporate espionage.

If they really loving suck at procgen (and this is highly likely) it is also necessary to avoid "floating rocks" when there is a depression on the ground.

Crytek will make overreaching requests for things they're not entitled to because it's what plaintiffs do, and CIG will fight about turning over anything no matter how mundane because it's what defendants do. And the judge can easily alternate who's she's pissed at based on the antics at the moment. California is its own beast. But there's a lot of difference even between Missouri & Illinois. Illinois is weird because you'll get the super professionals out of Chicago and then Larry the yokel trial lawyer down in Southern Illinois. Especially over in Madison County, Illinois: everyone's favorite place to sue unless its over copyright.

TheAgent posted:I guess OCS is being tested but how they are doing it doesn't make any loving sense My theory: OCS is crap. They can’t just let the Evocati have a build that is completely unfunctional (with OCS), it would be knocked back and there would be no illusion of progress. So they give Evocati two builds. They test OCS and find it makes things completely non functional, but they also have a second 3.3 build that could barely meet the label of ‘playability’ if you squint at it out of the corner of your eye in the right light. Then CIG can say “hey, we are SO close with OCS, but due to Evocati feedback we are going to keep refining it for 3.4, and in the meantime we will release 3.3 to you all with out OCS”. Citizens get the illusion of progress (3.3 gets released, OCS has been ‘tested’ and is ‘being refined before release’, shills get something to market, CIG can squeeze a few more dollars out.

He isn't obsessed with Star Citizen because it doesn't exist. There's not even an agreed upon design for what it is supposed to be. So he's naming his kid after bad lore written by an idiot for a nonexistent game which was used to scam him out of however many dollars he gave away. It's like naming your kid after the pool boy who actually impregnated your wife.

big nipples big life posted:I don't think anyone is white knighting sandi it's just the thread tends to go off the rails on the subject and starts going all reddit. Internet and women, that's how it goes. It is more interesting because of that soap opera stuff surrounding that whole thing. "No she isn't my wife." "Yes, I have two PhDs". "Yes, I'am a Hollywood actor". Actually, I think that Chris and Sandi are basically normal people with an ego problem. In Chris' case it is fueled by his successes ~30 years ago, but an ego problem in combination with 200 million dollar is bad, the result is documented quite well here. Sandi was drawn in because she likes the spotlight and hopes to star in some movies. She doesn't care about PC gaming neckbeards and probably hasn't heard about wing commander until she met Chris. For Chris it is similar, he doesn't give a gently caress about games and want's to tell stories and direct movies. And I think thats it, the fun for me lies in watching the trainwreck that is SC, laughing about that "meeting the devs"-episodes and all the hilarious things that come with it. We have some people in this thread that work in the software industry, myself included, and from that perspective it is hilarous what comes out of CIG. A little bit of personal grief also plays a role for me, despite the 70 bucks I've wasted (Friend said: See it like a ticket for the opera, but the final act might take a few years more), but I've loved Origin. I've spent way more time on the Crusader games and listening to that soundtrack as was healthy for me. Wing Commander was nice, but just some sort of distraction, really nothing groundbreaking. The true geniuses behind those games are all lost and forgotten and people like Chris make their retirement found out of it. That sucks, really. Yeah, I'am drunk and pissed of about this whole affair, Sandi really has the smallest part in it.

And there's no real package manager in Slackware, there's no clicking "update", you can install the official version in a few months when Patrick gets around to updating it; if you want it done now you're compiling it yourself. And that means that you're also compiling all the dependencies, all the way down to the fundamentals. Now this isn't really as hard as it sounds. Generally you just go through each library and do "./configure && make && make install" and move on to the next one. It's when this doesn't work that you get to experience The Joy of Linux and that random neckbeard was Derek Smart

TheAgent posted:I guess OCS is being tested but how they are doing it doesn't make any loving sense You know what they're doing. They're pushing out two identical builds and sending a few of the "OCS Enabled Builds" that are the same build just labeled differently to the most vocal of the believers so that even though they won't be able to tell anything is different they'll still claim they noticed something different and amazing because they'll actually believe they did "The OCS build will be nearly identical to the 3.3.0 build and as such won't have build specific patch notes, though you may observe some content differences." That line outright tells us what is in it, which is nothing. All the rest is just horseshit layered on top to make it smell different.
