Zazz Razzamatazz posted:Yes! They showed stealth melee takedowns in the sandworm video a few years ago. No, you lie! Everything in the sandworm demo IS in the pre-alpha game only they are not telling you where so as to add to the excitement of exploring. Just because you don't know the 9 key combination to preform a stealth melee takedown (after unlocking it with the $27k Legendary Norris ship pack) does not mean it's not in game. Chris Roberts would never lie to his fans! And once more, I bet you have heard of Derek Smart, there by being confirmed as a goon meanie and an internet dumb dumb.

In another hilarious bit of Theranos information that I didn't know before, check this out.quote:In December 2017, Fortress Investment Group loaned $100 million to Theranos. Theranos had reportedly been on the verge of bankruptcy, with the loan meant to keep the company solvent into 2018. The loan was secured by Theranos' patents. By December 2017 they had already had all their labs shut down, lost licensing, been sued by and settled with multiple entities, their founders had been sanctioned, and they had voided all results from their blood-testing machine. Can you imagine handing $100 million dollars to someone, secured by what any idiot would have known were worthless patents? I think we're still waiting for the Fortress equivalent in the Star Citizen saga, we can only hope that no one is dumb enough to make a similar hail mary loan/investment into CIG when they're really going under.

Hav posted:I just think that's it's symptomatic of the whole unicorn phenomenon and the cult of personality. Jobs was considered a visionary when he was around, when it was more that he was a pedantic rear end in a top hat with extremely high standards. His failures and pratfalls are rehabilitated by fans who point to more positive aspects. Same for Elon Musk, but he surrounds himself with smart people. These are the _successes_. Also the whole Auture Theory thing, people don't understand how games or movies or cars or whatever get made, because its complicated, so its easy to just ascribe all details to the single person at the top. I know a lot of people really believe Jobs invited MP3s and the MP3 player, which is of course bullshit. Even the things Apple was responsible for, it was Woz and a team of engineers nobody knows the names of who did the real heavy lifting. Jobs was just the taskmaster. He achieved things, for sure, but he wasn't slinging code and writing genius algorithms. Like, everybody knows Quentin Tarantino or James Cameron, but only extreme extreme uber cinema nerds could tell you who was the DP on Terminator or Pulp Fiction. But you better believe Tarantino and Cameron had extremely talented DPs working with them. Much less all the various stage hands and grips and set and costume artists and cg artists whatnot toiling below them. Heck, most people probably don't even know what a director of photography is. And I hate that about our society and think its super toxic. We put people on pedestals because understanding that its a team effort is... too hard?

Because "You can be the next Jobs/Cameron/Musk" is an easier ego-trip to sell than the idea that nothing get achieved by a single person.

Sarsapariller posted:* Here is a clip of a spaceman doing punches. Naturally we're showing this in greybox because it's far too advanced to just be rolled into the game. We can see that punching is going to add a lot of utility for the player in our game about spaceships and ranged combat. We're very excited to introduce this feature that is definitely not a basic part of the cryengine platform that we are hyping up to make it seem like we did something this last month. Interesting observation here about psychological manipulation and how effective it can be. I read this section - twice - and, because this is Star Citizen, both times my brain substituted "purchasing" where you typed "punching."
