Man, looking ahead at some later chapters, this series has some ludicrously good art. Daroemon (that's the artist, right?) is astoundingly good at drawing people in different positions and accurately conveying motions. edit: I like that it was mentioned that Gaolang breaking his fist might actually have permanent repercussions. It bugs me how casually people have fingers violently broken in this, because in reality that sort of injury would likely cause some sort of permanent damage (you'd likely regain some motion, but some nerves and muscles would get permanently damaged). Like, I fell a while back, bending my left big toe back a bunch (and making it all black and blue) in the process, and its range of motion has just been permanently limited ever since (in addition to weird pain during weather changes). It's based upon the urban legends about the real life Aokigahara forest. Aokigahara forest has a normal magnetic field, and it is full of living creatures. To quote the translatorquote:I chose to transliterate this as Gakigahara instead of translating it as Ghost Forest to strengthen the association with the real-world Aokigahara. I'm guessing that "Mortuary Mountain" is supposed to be a morbid analogue of Mt. Fuji (if you look on the map, it's just about where Fuji is). Kengan Ashura Japan is way more metal than real Japan.
