It hit me this morning that the fact that the saw mill was carding people is absolutely insane. There were literally used hypodermic needles lying around lmao. I also added some character bios to the OP, let me know if you guys want anything else.

Gays of Future past is too good to waste on this game. Besides, I like my title

To be fair, we don't know for sure if there's gonna be time travel in Season 2 either or if they're gonna try some other gimmick instead (in fact, my guess is we probably won't know anything about the sequel until next year at the earliest).

I'm guessing it will be a separate symbolic power, like instead of an indecisive teenager with time travel it will star an alzheimer's patient who can remix memories.

Yeah, as it's more than likely at this point we're getting a new protagonist for Season 2 (because like I said, there really isn't anywhere to go following either ending) it would make sense that the powers this time around would be tailored to them rather than simply being a copy of what Max had. At this point I would probably play any concept Dontnod invents for LiS 2 as long as it promises to follow the same bold melodramatic presentation and is 100% gay af.

The game could follow two protagonists, one in the past and the other in the present. You'd swap back and forth as the game goes on, the choices you make in the past would have direct consequences in the present and events in the present would gradually answer questions regarding the past as the connection between those characters gradually begins to come to light (thereby keeping the whole mystery aspect from the first game intact) until everything comes together at the very end (possibly with the two characters eventually meeting up in the final episode). That or maybe some kind of alternate reality-based shenanigans? So the protag could flip between two contemporaneous timelines at will? The two are the Bay & Bae endings.

In LiS 2 you play as a prolific Pricefield shipper who must travel six months into the past and convince your previous internet toughguy self to play Life is Strange, lest the two of you cease to exist.

Yes my shame is absolute. So there's a fic called Better Then about a suicidal, Bay Max doubling back to Bae. It does some genuinely fascinating timeline twisting and playing with the rule that a time jumped Max carries all gained knowledge back with her, and 'overrides' that timeline's Maxine. Life is Strange 2 consists of one ongoing conversation with a drug dealer. There are 800,000 permutations of how it can go. All but one end in you either killing a man or being mauled by a pit bull.

I have no problem with stuff that carries on from the Bay ending, or stuff that carries on from the Bae ending. I feel one of the strengths of the endings are that both could be seen as equally valid in their own way. Discounting one for the other rings false. If there's any Hospital Ending/taking a third option stuff, I would not be opposed to it, though. ![]() exquisite tea posted:The Life is Strange fandom is completely insane. I admit to reading some LiS fanfiction myself and while there is some good stuff out there some of it can get pretty weird too (there's one story following the Bae ending where Max ends up doubling down and expanding her time powers, essentialy becoming a god while she and Chloe end up founding their own PMC).

Yeah, I've started to understand how Sacrifice Chloe could be considering the "good" ending to the game (though both are a bit problematic if you think about them too much). Especially if you follow the theory that the storm is Rachel's revenge and Chloe and Max are her chess pieces. In other words, through the last choice you either pacify her spirit (Bay ending) or you let her win (Bae ending).

I started a new game of the original while waiting for BTS episode 2. I didn't realize that basically the entire voice cast had been replaced. Some of them (Nathan, Joyce) didn't seem that obvious but others were. I hope they somehow get Hannah Telle back for the bonus episode.

Either of the endings to Life is Strange ultimately communicate the same message -- that Max can't control the flow of time, neither can you, and the difference comes down to where in the continuity you choose to break the loop. Moreover, it's a reflection of the type of game Life is Strange was to you as an individual. If you thought you were playing a coming-of-age buildingsroman, then it's more sensible to sacrifice Chloe and return Max back to society forever changed by her journey. If you thought you were playing a Lynchian psychodrama, then gently caress the idea that jumping back in time yet again would somehow set everything right, and welcome to a brave new chaotic world.

Huh, I knew that Chloe and Frank got replaced but I assumed most of the other actors were able to come back as Nathan and Victoria sounded pretty on point and to a lesser extent so did Joyce and David. Was anybody from the first game able to come back for BtS? I know Ashly Burch wrote the game's script and picked out her replacement personally at the very least. As for Hannah Telle, I'm not sure if the fact that she's a singer by trade and not an actress means she wouldn't be affected by the current strike. It'd be nice if she could come back at the very least but I wouldn't hold your breath. Larryb fucked around with this message at 19:22 on Sep 23, 2017 |

David sounds way more mellowed out in BTS than he does in the original, even in the backtalk sequence. Just going through the pages of the fan-run wiki, it seems like every voice actor was replaced.

Huh, they must have gotten some decent soundalikes for a few of them then as Nathan sounds almost exactly the same. If that's the case then I wouldn't count on Hannah Telle reprising her role as Max in the bonus episode either.

Frank, David and William sounded a bit off to me but yeah, I orginally thought the rest were the same people too (especially since most of them were first-timers and as such might not have been affected as much by the strike). Most of the new actors are pretty good though (particularly Kylie Brown as Rachel). Larryb fucked around with this message at 21:33 on Sep 23, 2017 |

It's a pretty safe bet, the language about BTS from Deck9 suggests the bonus episode is a short and sweet book end to LIS separate from any BTS or LIS narrative arcs so they can wait out the strike they're not beholden to deliver at a particular date. I mean if they don't have Max's trademark insecure mousey squeak, I'll loving riot.

Off the subject but I like that, like a lot of LiS characters, it's kind of left ambiguous whether Rachel is a good person at heart or not. On the one hand, she's clearly going through some personal issues and genuinely seems to care about Chloe but on the other, she's manipulative, skilled at both acting and lying and at times seems to know way more than she should (plus there's the whole issue of her hooking up with Frank behind Chloe's back later on), not to mention how she always seems to conveniently be in the right place at the right time as things go on. Perhaps we should think of her like the placard said regarding the raven, "[she] is to be respected, never trusted". I don't think she's evil per se but there definitely is something not quite right about her. Larryb fucked around with this message at 23:07 on Sep 23, 2017 |

Another theory that's occurred to me regarding Rachel and Max's seemingly supernatural powers is that whatever's going on is about Chloe herself. Perhaps it's Chloe who has a way of attracting people with unusual gifts, or she directly creates such things in those close to her.

Perhaps it's Chloe who has a way of attracting people with unusual gifts, or she directly creates such things in those close to her. Both Rachel and Max awakened their "powers" (even if Rachel isn't an Airbender that bird-like scream she made at the end definitely didn't sound natural) while Chloe was in direct proximity to them so there could be some truth to that. There might be something supernatural about Chloe herself that she never even comes to realize (plus the raven(s) almost have to be following her and appearing in her dreams for some specific reason after all, though it has been speculated that the raven is actually William watching out for Chloe, which would explain the dreams). There's also the theory that she was somehow represented by the butterfly despite her still being alive when it made it's first appearance in the bathroom, then again the butterfly doesn't seem to follow the same rules as the other spirit animals we see in the game so it might be a different case altogether.
