I know you have to have the Deluxe edition to get it but does it install automatically or is it a seperate download you need to purchase like the previous episodes? Seems weird to wait until launch day to release the trailer but it does seem to confirm that the intial suspicion of it taking place just before Max left for Seattle was correct. If you're playing on PS4 then you have to go to the store, select BtS Episode 1, then scroll to the drop-down menus with add-ons. Farewell should be there. It's hella dumb but that's the way Sony manages a lot of their DLC content.

You see "2008" everywhere. I dunno why the trailer made it seem like it was earlier. That episode is very very short. Even with looking around at everything, I finished it in about an hour, hour and a half. Usually with all the things to look at and read the episode take about 3 hours. And obviously it ends on a huge downer. It's kind of sad how the universe just kind of... hates Chloe? Like at some point the universe was like "She's had a good run for like 13 years (or however old they are here) time to ruin it"

So in other words, my initial theory about this game was right, good to know. So does that mean there's not extra stuff like photos/graffiti like there was in the previous episodes then? Also, does anyone else show up during the episode or is it mostly just Max and Chloe? Finally, is there even a choice of some kind at the end or is there only just one ending?

That was really bitter sweet. But seriously, whose parents force their kid to move away literally directly after her best friend's dad's funeral? That's just seriously bad timing. I enjoyed it though. It was just a nice little full stop on the story. I could see the twist coming pretty early and I was glad that Chloe took the whole moving to Seattle thing pretty well.

Yeah the prequel stuff has done a good job of making Max out to be kind of an rear end in a top hat. I mean they're young and I get it, but this episode furthered the idea even more that Chloe is INCREDIBLY sentimental and very loyal to her friends. And Max just isn't. And the first Life is Strange almost feels like she's trying to atone for ditching Chloe to the degree she does.

If you don't tell Chloe they talk about building a hideout instead and then in the ending the tape Chloe finds is different (Max just explains everything then and there). The final shot is still the same though (Chloe crying in her room clutching the tape recorder). Finally got around to playing this and it was pretty good overall (a bit short but that's to be expected), it's kind of weird that there isn't even a journal to look at though. While I liked most of the actors in BtS it was still great to hear Burch and Telle again (speaking of which, was that William's original VA on the tapes they listened to?). Also, even if it doesn't last it's nice to see Chloe happy for once. But all the same it seems appropriate to end Chloe and Max's story by showing us the day all their troubles really began. I'm going to miss these characters but I'm also looking forward to seeing what DontNod has in store for LiS 2 (which I'm still hoping we see something about at this years E3). edit: Also be sure to look at the concert tickets at the beginning, Chloe winds up doing a variation of Max's penguin dance from LiS (and Max has the option of doing an air guitar). ![]() Well, that was such a beautifully bittersweet ending. I guess the fact that Max mentions that pile of clothes was an excuse for her & Chloe to dress up earlier in the day should have be the first clue. I was slightly confused when I saw the photo on the side, but when Joyce came in the door at the end... I guess Chloe probably figured Max/future Max's breakdown after correcting the timeline in episode 4 was due to the impending move. I kind of fanatically took the chance to have Max in every potential photo (I don't know why, it's not like she would have jumped into them, since only the one in the kitchen was before William died - I guess so Bay Ending Max would be able remember them fondly). The fact there was a canonical photo of Max regardless (which was probably the setup for her selfie-obsession - sorry, couldn't resist) almost felt like it would be a setup for something if this wasn't the ending - and I guess beginning - of Max & Chloe's story. I may need to go and replay series 1. But I'm not sure, even doing it all over again, what ending I'll pick. I wish the hospital ending was an option, dammit. At least that way Chloe & Max would have a chance at happiness without anybody else getting hurt.In non-spoilery news, do you think Chloe's shirt was a reference to Night In The Woods? It seemed to resemble Mae a bit. Also dammit, I know it's not gonna have Max or Chloe, but I can't wait until E3 for news on season 2. Hurry up and ruin me emotionally all over again, you heartless bastards!

I choose to believe so (I kind of consider that game to be something of an unofficial entry in the LiS franchise in some ways, there's a lot of similar themes). Also, god drat did that final scene hurt especially when Max promises in her message to write and even have Chloe visit at some point. As has been mentioned, while Max is a decent person she's still kind of a lovely friend and doesn't really start to get it until the events of the first game (where of course, she winds up going overboard and making things worse at times). Like I said, ending Chloe (and Max)'s story by showing the day everything started to fall apart is a nice way to bookend things. Also William dies and Max leaves all within a day or two from each other, followed by David entering the picture not long after and people in this series, including her own mother, still wonder why Chloe is so on edge all the time. That's just cruel. Get some rest old friends, it's someone else's turn to suffer now. Larryb fucked around with this message at 21:34 on Mar 5, 2018 |

WhiskeyWhiskers posted:And add dealing with classist bullying from both students and admin. It's been said, but this is why Chloe is ultimately the true hero of Life is Strange. She's the one who went through the most hardship but is also the one responsible for saving everyone in the end (even if only Max will ever know about it). A lesser person probably would have hurled themselves off a ledge or put a bullet in their skull a long time ago if they had to deal with even half the poo poo she's gone through. Remember, most of her punk persona is just an act to mask her own sense of loneliness and self-loathing. The real Chloe never fully disappeared though, she just got buried down and we still see glimpses of her throughout both games. Its telling that nearly everyone who makes an effort to look past the surface regarding Chloe generally winds up becoming her friend and even when some of those people wind up hurting her eventually (Max, Rachel), Chloe still remains loyal to the end. Despite her pretense, she's just a genuinely good person who the universe suddenly decided to start making GBS threads on relentlessly one day. Though like with Kate and others, Arcadia Bay just seems to at times be a place where the innocent suffer and the guilty seem to prosper (but to be fair, the latter only really make up a small percentage of the population). One change I really liked that they made this episode was decoupling the dialogue from the camera changes in the, 'sit and ponder' sections. They always made me nervous I was missing dialogue if I got up too early before, now it's all right at the start and then a relaxing sit. They also had a bit better comedic timing, putting back the board game felt snappy.

I made the most cowardly decisions possible and jeez, that last scene hurt. drat, Max. Couldn't have hurt her more if you tried. I don't remember if it's mentioned in the first game, but I finally realized that the photos hanging in Chloe's room were taken by Max which hit me kind of hard for some reason. Chloe really is loyal to a fault. Edit: Also, it's kind of messed up playing the game and seeing how vulnerable a state Chloe's in, and knowing what's to come. Seeing her playing as a pirate in the backyard was just... rough to watch. Renoistic fucked around with this message at 23:39 on Mar 5, 2018 |

That email from William where he kindly tells Wells to gently caress off is great (though I see his habit of blaming Chloe for the actions of others stretches all the way back to the start of her time at Blackwell). Speaking of which, did William's original VA reprise his role for this episode as well?

While I think we should give these characters a break for a while it might be nice one day to do a BtS style game about Max in Seattle, if only to find out what happened to cause her to break her promise to Chloe. While it never explicitly vilifies her, this game doesn't really paint Max in the best light either. Larryb fucked around with this message at 00:55 on Mar 6, 2018 |

I so totally called they were going to pull that ending months ago! Knew it! Fittingly it was the most Life is Strangey way they could have ended the series. This last episode really got to me. Six months ago I wasn't expecting to ever see another game set in Arcadia Bay again, was determined to hate BtS, and now I'm double sad that it's all over. I think I have to plan out some grand headcanonical run of the entire series so that I can finally put it to rest.

Honestly it'd be more surprising if it didn't end in misery somehow given this series' track record. Related, the official blog has stated that DontNod will start releasing information about Season 2 in the coming months, which basically guarantees an E3 reveal. Arcadia Bay will be missed but I'm curious to see what they've got planned for the future as well (though like I've said, I wouldn't mind seeing Deck Nine take another crack at the franchise one day either). The lack of texts, a journal or even a screen at the end showing how your choices stack up to everyone else was kind of weird to be honest but it was still a fitting sendoff none the less and it was great hearing the old VA's again (though DeVries was still around for mo-cap work). Speaking of the latter, they still never fixed the glitch in Episode 3 where it shows 0% of people having played D&D with Mikey in the hospital. One of the things I'm really glad BtS did was lower the stakes. Hopefully it gave DontNod some more freedom from people's expectations for the next game. But I really hope they've taken onboard some of the criticism of their contributing to the tragic queer couple cliche.

In retrospect, the final choice really should have had the standard large text and warping effect common to important choices in this series but I guess the fact that Chloe knew Max was leaving from the start probably mitigated it a bit. I hope DontNod takes careful note of what worked and didn't work in this game (and the original) and uses that knowledge to make LiS 2 even better. There's probably going to be little to no mention of the first game beyond maybe an Easter egg or two but honestly I'm fine with that, Chloe and Max's story is finished and it's time to move on. Who knows, maybe the new cast will wind up being great and then later we'll get a side game about one of them.

As much as I love these characters, they certainly need to move on and have little to no reference of them in season 2. People will scrutinise them no matter what they do, but the focus needs to be on the new characters and story.

In fact, I don't think they should even bring back the Rewind mechanic. That was kind of tied into Max's character so therefore the new protagonist needs a power more suited to them instead.
