DONT THREAD ON ME posted:alright going into ~4 hours of interviews with $JOB_I_REALLY_WANT. i have a decent shot imo but could go either way. nerves arent too bad but my palms are sweaty. lol i hosed up at reading the schedule they sent me and i only had half the interviews today. today was the technical portion (implement a set, plus some other simple stuff) which i'd done recently so i sailed through it with minor issues that i found and corrected. tomorrow is more soft skills stuff which i'm good at so feeling really good atm. remembered how to write a for loop this time i could be wrong but my guts telling me i'm gonna get it DONT THREAD ON ME fucked around with this message at 21:10 on Feb 18, 2019 |

a lot of the interviews i've did that felt really easy and solidly in the bag ended up being a no, and vice versa. i guess the difficulty goes down when the interviewers realize it's going to be a no mid-interview and switch into let's get this guy outta the building pronto mode.

The funniest thing about Brexit is the services industry (i.e the people who mostly voted against Brexit) will probably be okay since being part of the customs union has exactly nothing to do with being able to sell services into Europe. I mean, maybe the passporting thing in the finance industry is an issue, but Switzerland doesn't have passporting either and I don't think anyone is stupid enough to argue that their banking industry has been significantly constrained as a result. The people it hurts most is the manufacturing industry (i.e the ones who mostly voted for Brexit) of which companies are already cancelling projects and moving to Amsterdam regardless of what happens in a month's time.

Millions of people are going to be significantly worse off because of a small majority of bigots who can't see the forest for the trees. Thankfully though I'm now part of a country that has a currency that will be worth more than the material it's printed on in a couple of months.

Honestly the conservatives came to power 9 years ago with the promise of stabilizing a post recession Britain, and since then we've seen no less than 3 separate and completely avoidable catastrophes in the British economy. How anyone still votes Tory is totally beyond me.
