The previous page mentions Surge still hates Sonic even if she doesn't hate the world anymore.

Most of the IDW run is available on a digital bundle right now with four days left for just 12€ (I assume $13 or so), DRM-free. That's a ridiculous sale. I think it's missing a couple minis and the more recent issues only. Link

It seems like it actually only has 8 volumes out of 17, which is a shame, because being able to get stuff like this unencumbered is generally worth doing since you don't have a lot of chances.

So apparently the DC crossover is out tomorrow? You can't seem to buy it digitally in the UK for some reason. I buy the main comic on Amazon Kindle/Conixology/Whatever, but when I look up the DC crossover the only thing that comes up is the collected version that releases in September

The DC crossover is funny because the DC heroes just accept these talking animals in like, record time. There's not even a standard hero fight!

I think this is it on Kindle? https://www.amazon.com/Sonic-Hedgehog-2025-Ian-Flynn-ebook/dp/B0DY3BNM2K/ (They don't make it very easy to find though, since only the trade paperback shows up in search so you have to go to that and then switch it to the Kindle version.)

Ah, I don't think that was there last time I looked, thanks!

This is the dumbest idea for a crossover I've ever seen. Yet, it works? It's a credit to Ian Flynn but he paired every Sonic character with their perfect counterpart in the JL, what the hell. I'm invested.

Flynn tried with the Batman/Shadow meetup but I don't think he managed to pass "This is where I watched my parents die, Raphael" from the TMNT comic as the most unintentionally hilarious panel of Batman and a random character from another universe. the Darkseid version of a Death Egg being called the Ragna Rock is a pun so on the nose Jack Kirby would totally have done it

Nodosaur posted:that's cuz he did. Ian didn't invent it. Even more wonderfully amazing. Latest issue has an interesting setup... Kit being overly 'helpful' for Surge's attempted hero turn almost immediately getting to the point of engineering disasters for her to 'save' actually kinda tracks. The whole dark reflection thing aside, it makes a scary amount of sense that him feeling (because he was programmed to) he doesn't exist for any reason other than to serve Surge, and having no real motivations, ideas or moral compass outside of that, gets to a dangerous place quickly. I do wonder if it's going to get to the point where for Surge to be a hero, she has to have a villain to fight, and if no one else will step up to the plate... And also on the last bit, there's no way the most paranoid and heavily armed character in the comic, whose main weapon and motif is a sniper rifle, is sitting out in the open like that in an area with sheltered sightlines without very obviously baiting someone out. Rainbow Canyon is also awesome, and may be based on real-life places that look like that thanks to geological shenanigans.

DC x Sonic continues to be amazingly fun. What’s NOT fun is Flash fanboys not getting that Sonic’s speed doesn’t adhere to the bullshit made up rules that DC speedsters are bound to and them freaking out every single time Sonic’s shown to be an equal or better to one of them.

At some point in the last like 2 years I noticed that people stopped describing characters based on anything about them aside from power level or things they can do. It'd be like describing Mario based on stuff in the final boss fight and nothing else.

The Sonic speed comparison is incredibly simple, too. Sonic's normal max is speed of sound. He can go a bit faster than that if he pushes. Super Sonic can supposedly go speed of light. Meanwhile, Flash's speed is effectively "yes". His upper limit is at the very least multiple times the speed of light. The Speed Force lets the Flash go at speeds that are best defined as "infinite". You do not go faster than Flash unless the writer says you do, and generally there's some reason you can keep up with "man whose body is powered by goes fast". Sonic just can't do that, and that's fine, and the comic portraying them as equals is more or less "Those races were for charity, Clark" levels of handwaving. No big deal.

But it's just a silly story where Sonic & Co. get to dress up as superheroes so it really doesn't deserve any overthinking.
