Late again but you'll probably never see a Parasite Eve remaster because the title and general contents of the original story are from a book Squeenix doesn't have licenses to anymore.

Which is a bummer because the first game was really fun.

.......what the gently caress lol.

Like, the guys who do the Killstream (who aren't exactly what you would call nice, pleasant and inoffensive people) clearly think he's joking about this but he is actually serious. Like even for them, this poo poo from Boogie is like "wait...what you're serious?" it's suddenly really awkward for a second. But hey, I can't imagine they got him on for any other reason than for him to sayy stupid poo poo like this cause that's just how these things go.

How did Ralph and co. manage to get Boogie to say this poo poo on a stream that's ostensibly about BetterHelp (which seems to be the new big thing in YouTube sponsorship but really isn't that good at all - basically unlicensed people giving mental health advice)? How did they get him to this point?

loving hell, Boogie.

EDIT: Jeez this is continuing to annoy me, mainly because it's such a ham-fisted, oversimplified and basically flat out incorrect interpretation of actual history. Like, yes - Operation Paperclip was a thing. The U.S in secret essentially recruited hundreds if not thousands of Nazi scientists and doctors after the war - they were basically given asylum by intelligence (not that everyone in Government was exactly for this, but Truman approved it). A part of this was an effort to improve the quality of life in UN countries through the collection of German research, yes - but hardly the biggest part in any way. Most of it was because the U.S (and others who did similar programs - the U.S. is the most famous but this happened to an extent in Europe and the Soviet Union) wanted German scientists who operated in the field of rocketry, or those who'd worked on Nazi Germany's efforts in building chemical, biological and nuclear weaponry. The Pentagon looked at Hitler's efforts to create a bubonic plague weapon and thought that they might want to look at that for themselves.

This is a subject, for sure. It's certainly one of the awkward areas to talk about when it comes to the Apollo Space Program which was filled with folks who'd previously operated in Nazi Germany - for many years these people were celebrated, awards named after them until recently when people thought "Hang on...isn't this guy a Nazi?"...but it's not like "Oh well some good came out of it!" that is the dumbest loving interpretation of the facts.

Hi!

Can we stop calling Boogie a Centrist?
Centrism should require a degree of historical and political understanding. Ideologies require thought. We don't equate the expertise of a poorly trained mall guard to that of someone serving in an anti-terror unit.

There is a minimum requirement for any ideology in that the person needs to be able to comprehend said ideology to some degree. If someone runs around naked in the garden while yelling yare krishnas and they've never even heard of the bible, then they don't get to claim to be christian. That's not what that word means, no matter what kind of justification they can come up with in their head. Words without comprehension have no meaning.

Boogie is just a fool and nothing else. Claiming he's a centrist or that he believes in centrism gives him more credibility than he deserves.

Are his video game hot takes like that too or something? He's one of those Youtube Gamer Boys, right?

Thereís an essay by (I think) Chris Hedges that uses his experience polling undecided voters to describe how self-described centrists are all morons lacking even the most basic understanding of politics or history, and that a large number of them are white supremacist nativist isolationists who donít understand that those things are political in nature or positions that can be contested by others.

Also the medical knowledge derived from the holocaust was largely worthless because the nazis had a poor understanding of how scientific controls work. Itís a myth that the knowledge they produced served mankind, probably because the ethical dimensions are so rich.

The only thing the holocaust did for anyone was to get the us to the moon before anyone else, and that was pretty indirect (von Braun used slaves to make his rockets, which taught him about making rockets).

Zwiebel posted:

Boogie's videogame opinions are extremely simplistic and surface level. He will often present a very "us vs them" viewpoint and argument when discussing gaming controversies or perceived slights against the gamer collective. His video about playstation crossplay has a thumbnail with the caption "WE WIN", his battlefield 5 video is titled "EA vs The World," even his recent Telltale video seems to be more concerned about the possibility of finishing out TWD final season and lamenting no Wolf Among Us 2 than getting into the pretty awful state the employees find themselves in. Gamers are a group that need to be made up to for perceived slights in his eyes with a dash of lip service given to an industry that he doesn't fully understand to have the appearance of being the adult in the room.

Which is why he also has his Francis character so he can loudly provide an unreasonable foil of what a selfish ignorant gamer REALLY looks like. He produced two videos about the spider-man ps4 "puddlegate", one where Francis loudly demands its return and rants about PC gaming being superior, the next one of himself saying gamers should still be "cautious" when buying the game and judge for themselves if there's a graphical downgrade.

Maybe he should introduce a nazi character in his goal of the appearance of 100% impartiality.

chris hayes

quote:

Undecided voters don't think in terms of issues. Perhaps the greatest myth about undecided voters is that they are undecided because of the "issues." That is, while they might favor Kerry on the economy, they favor Bush on terrorism; or while they are anti-gay marriage, they also support social welfare programs. Occasionally I did encounter undecided voters who were genuinely cross-pressured--a couple who was fiercely pro-life, antiwar, and pro-environment for example--but such cases were exceedingly rare. More often than not, when I asked undecided voters what issues they would pay attention to as they made up their minds I was met with a blank stare, as if I'd just asked them to name their favorite prime number.

The majority of undecided voters I spoke to couldn't name a single issue that was important to them. This was shocking to me. Think about it: The "issue" is the basic unit of political analysis for campaigns, candidates, journalists, and other members of the chattering classes. It's what makes up the subheadings on a candidate's website, it's what sober, serious people wish election outcomes hinged on, it's what every candidate pledges to run his campaign on, and it's what we always complain we don't see enough coverage of.

But the very concept of the issue seemed to be almost completely alien to most of the undecided voters I spoke to. (This was also true of a number of committed voters in both camps--though I'll risk being partisan here and say that Kerry voters, in my experience, were more likely to name specific issues they cared about than Bush supporters.) At first I thought this was a problem of simple semantics--maybe, I thought, "issue" is a term of art that sounds wonky and intimidating, causing voters to react as if they're being quizzed on a topic they haven't studied. So I tried other ways of asking the same question: "Anything of particular concern to you? Are you anxious or worried about anything? Are you excited about what's been happening in the country in the last four years?"

it's absolutely insane.

A big part of this, the way you word questions, being also why polls can generally be a lot of bullshit because when you know what you're doing you can happily engineer questions in order to get the ultimate answer that you want. As shown in this classic scene from the almighty and still ultra-relevant Yes Minister:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0ZZJXw4MTA

(Ironically enough, Yes Minister is about as "centrist" in a way as a political sitcom can get. Written by a socialist (Jonathan Lynn) and a Thatcherite (Antony Jay), with nothing to signify what party is actually in power, and purposefully set in a Government Department - the Department for Administrative Affairs - that would be as apolitical as possible, unlike the Home Office or the Department for Arts and Culture or anything like that)
