There's also the catchphrase component, where for example one has read a certain internet forum for years where the "my son is also named Bort" quote has been repeated endlessly. When one gets to the actual line being said in the show, it is underwhelming :-/ p.s. i LIKE frozen yogurt you weirdos. let me eat the thing that i like ok

I watched it through since when it originally came out and wow there's a lot of early season episodes that I watched when I was four or five that had some jokes that I definitely didn't get until decades later. And made the episodes a lot funnier.

Yeah, the last season of B99 was as good as any other. I get differences in personal taste, but if you like early 99, not liking the latter seasons would be an aberration.
