This series feels like it could been a 2 hour movie and not much would be lost. The current structure of “one episode of throat clearing followed by one episode of something happening” is wearing pretty thin.

I'd love this show forever if the season ended with Qimir flying to the rebuilt Star Forge to meet his Rakata master.

Unknown to the unseen editor of the text, unknown to OSHA as the POV character, or diagetically unknown to the rest of the galaxy? The planet is unknown in the context of Galactic history. Whoever wrote the opening text wrote it over a century after the events of the show, and they still haven't figured out where Darth Manny got his helmet.

It's literally a 1:1 with the British genocide of Bengalis through famine during WWII. What, so it’s illegal to not give people food? You have to give them food? Look, war sucks. That’s just how it is. I know it’s bad, but it’s good also. And, for all we know, those people were pretending to starve in order to get extra rations. We don’t know! We don’t know anything at all - so why assume the worst instead of assuming the best? I press the boot firmly on your neck and assume you have air, and that’s fine. Ok? It’s fine. I am but a servant of God. And I just don’t buy that God would allow this to happen - so, therefore, it didn’t happen. There is an objective Goodness in this setting, and you are now witness to it. Behold!

I bet I can fit this in my head in time for the next episode: "Goddess - Mysteries of the Feminine Divine by Joseph Cambell". I can feel my commentary becoming more insufferable. Vicki Noble's The Double Goddess is in French, which baffles me because she is not French. Guess I will have to get the hard copy. edit: just finished a rewatch on my laptop. Not only does Osha put on Mae shoes (step into her role), she put on her fun little cut off hoodie. When the light hits the hoodie's fabric just right you can see an interlocking triangle pattern embossed into the textile. In episode three, you can see in close up shots that the witches' robes and cloaks feature a similar pattern. especially on Aniseya. It means the research assistant to the Whills was tasked with going back and figuring out what planet that was, but has been too busy with all the random poo poo they were told to track down for the Journal that they haven’t done it yet. “Wait, Ki-Adi is at the temple now? Didn’t earlier research say he was born later?” It’s easier to imagine Star Wars canon is the way it is because the Journal of the Whills was a mess to research and compile together. The current structure of “one episode of throat clearing followed by one episode of something happening” is wearing pretty thin. It's true. Pretty much nothing happens in episodes 2, 4 and 6. Everything to do with Jedi Tommen was a waste of time, so just cut it to three Jedi to kill and you can remove episode 2. Episodes 4 and 6 just revolve in circles wasting time.

the second jedi existed to exonerate osha, show that whatever happened was an event actually worth having guilt over and not just some insanity mae was fed or invented in her own head, show osha that mae was alive, and introduce qimir as a goofy yet dependable guy. all these aspects of character or plot were important to have in that space of the story and no later because we rely on those building blocks to establish why characters are thinking or doing things later. i dont think there are any plot beats or aspects of the structure i would cut or change in the show. most of the scenes just need tighter editing and line revision

because of the events in this series, the senate voted to defund OSHA, which is why there are no safety rails around fall hazards by the time of Phantom Menace

I think after the sequel trilogy was a disaster Disney got cold feet so they just turn everything into a tv show for streaming and don't bother making movies. So you get stuff like this, what could be a 2 hour movie becomes an 8 episode tv show.

Obi Wan would have been a neat movie, this would have been a neat movie. Instead they made boring TV shows.

Exonerating Osha makes the show less interesting, Osha already was convinced Mae was alive in episode one and it's very easy to introduce Qimir in an alternate fashion. Given that characters have repeatedly changed motivation without anything resembling setup, I don't think establishing these building blocks has worked out very well. So again, the show could easily cut episode two and the large portions of the series as a whole with only a few reworks and the result would be a better show.

Mando was supposed to be a Boba Fett movie directed by Josh Trank and got heavily retooled over a couple of years and actually had something decent made out of it. Obi-Wan just had its major plot beats stretched out across TV show episodes and then filled with boring poo poo to pad time. I think The Acolyte was going to be the Yoda movie too but it also got heavily reworked into what it is now. e: YESSSSS! I got Kamala'd!

At bare minimum trim it down to four full episodes of 40-50 minutes rather than the bite-sized ones we've got that don't tell any sort of complete story and leave us with really laughable cliffhangers like Sol having Mae strapped to a gurney and saying "at last, how shall I reveal my shameful secret?"

I just want them to tear the band-aid off and start telling stories in the post-sequels era. I do not like the sequels, so let's just move the gently caress passed them. Like, maybe a 100 or so years passed them. What the point of showing how bad the old Jedi Order is if you're not going to give us a cool, new Jedi Order to makes us feel better. The audience does not want to feel conflicted about liking the rad glow-sword heroes.
