doomrider7 posted:Those kind of chapters that focus on the day to day normalcy are the best. Really gives things a real life world feel. It's important because when a character goes " I want to protect this peace" or " I don't want this to happen to anyone else" or " I want another war" You have the exact context for what they're talking about it's not a hypothetical

Also provides a fun time scale fact that in universe it's only been a few months since the cruise arc.

It may be cliche but I love the "protagonist loving kills the bad guy... but actually no their power just scared the spooked him so bad" moment. Also Yor's hair pulled back is a cute look. I get that most of it usually is but I think this is the first time we've seen her two big front strands pulled back too.

Darth Walrus posted:Given that Garden has thus far been treated as a (relatively) sane good-guy organisation, I assume that their plan by pairing up Hemlock and the Thorn Princess on this mission is to have the latter forcibly administer a chill pill to the former. We're in the ironic situation where our space-case assassin been put in the experienced, level-headed mentor role. Yup, reckon I called it. Yor was totally put on this mission to give Hemlock a reality check after he started becoming too much of a weirdo for the Garden.

Despite the fact that this was a pretty cliche "power of friendship bonds don't make you weak" fight, it was executed really well. This was such a good gag. I also didn't realize Hemlock was supposed to be male.

yeah i think hemlock viewed yor's status in the garden + doing so while getting "soft" as an opportunity to prove his philosophy was the correct one i think it's likely shopkeeper was aware and let it happen, but he seems much more aligned to yor's side of non-assassin activities

The dialogue exchange between Yor and Hemlock also reveal extra details about the Garden. Unlike the spy agencies, there is no or barely any need-to-know basis. It seems that the details of Yor’s “cover”, family, friendships, and missions are known to everyone else in the Garden. Given how candid Yor was to the Shopkeeper about even starting new activities and friendships, I expect candor is part of the organization’s mantra. They probably know many details about most of each other. I wonder if their real names are the only things withheld, or it is just general policy to refer to each other by their aliases.

The Garden seems like a way to bring in "do your extended family and friends think he's right for you?" plot points to a character who doesn't really have either of those things like it sets up the obvious "you can't love him, he's not like us!" cliche with the joke being that Loid is secretly in fact just like them

I think the funniest possible way for this to go forward is for Hemlock to demand to be "friends" with Yor and become another member of the larger cast so he can learn how her merrymaking and welcome home kisses can make him stronger. I mean we have plenty of Loid's associates, we should get to have more of Yor's who aren't Yuri. Maybe he can end up in a love triangle with Nightfall and Daybreak.
