the steam version of dark forces is pretty bad. for some reason the mouse aiming is really choppy and the game starts up in a stretched 4:3 and there are NONE of the enhanced super sai eagle filters found in doom source ports.

the steam version of dark forces is the original game running in dosbox, so it doesn't really have any enhancements at all. a russian dude made a mod called dark forces dehacker that takes the dos version and hacks in proper mouselook, autorun, and other modern creature comforts. darkxl is unfinished and abandoned, i'm not sure if you can finish the game in its final state. the guy is working on a new port, the force engine, that sounds like its close to release.

also i just saw this: at sgdq2020 dusk got run for the first time in under 19min and both david oshry and david szymanski (producer/dev, respectively) are on the commentary and are super-entertaining throughout ("THIS GAME IS BROKEN I WANT A REFUND...
