I'm an Archivist. I secure copies of files of players from the archives, as long as they're still alive, and passively study information from the files each night - I can learn alignment, role, who they targeted and who they were targeted by, but it's entirely at random. I presume this is how scum are janitoring kills, given the flavor - they have a player that's removing files from the archives. It would be really weird for scum to have a repeatable janitored kill; my hypothesis is that one player gets the files and another does the kill. I don't have any kind of active ability that reveals a janitored flip.

I had Hum's file at the start of the game. I learned he was town at the start of N1. I targeted Taste N1, to get his file, which explains why I was tracked to him. Taste was a Jailer, I learned that at the start of N2, and also that Hum targeted himself with an ability on N1. I appear to get a fact about every file I have at the start every night. With this, I elected to target myself last night; I'm hoping that I'll get a bit of info about someone targeting me at some point, which I can then use to verify their role. I already know my role/alignment, of course, so there shouldn't be a chance of learning that information. I realize that targeting someone else in an effort to learn their alignment would be nice, but I have no clue what the chances of that are; in addition, me posting poo poo about janitored players doesn't do much to clear me, as they can't exactly back me up. This is why I was reluctant to claim - I have a role that can potentially get valuable info on scum, but all I have is information on dead players who can't back me up.

If you think this role is weird, I think it is too. But so are repeated janitored kills and the almost-VT sharing one use of a power that lead to two modkills.

I assumed Taste would be unlikely to be killed in the night, which is why I went for his file.

The janitoring is what I presume I'm meant to counter, the wording of the night kill results is suggesting that files are missing from the archives. Theoretically I guess there could be a 3P wincon based around this, but it seems unlikely.
