Pelican, a Bag Man
I can take up posting Jucika, as I've found the source. Might as well give back something after all these years of lurking anyhow!

We'll do a five at a time on Fridays, but I'll start today so y'all start your week with a treat.

Back in the '80s my friends apartment was like this; he didn't have to pay for the heater and it ran 24/7 all year long. Fantastic in the winter but during the summer it was unbearable to be inside! We'd play cards there until 2am and you'd think it was strip poker because we'd all be in our boxers or shorts.

Moomin and the brigands

Atleast it'll be a while until I run out.
Though I have to say, as I leafed through the stories again while scanning them.
The stories seem a bit meandering until vol2, where they start getting a bit more focused, and shorter.
I imagine it has a decent bit to do with getting used to the format, and having a more established setting to do some of the heavy lifting.

"How much to put in 'em" implies that it's a pre-cartridge rifle and they put in too much gunpowder. It looks like a Springfield M1861 rifle musket.

I jumped into the new thread after getting 300 pages behind. What happened to the art of the strip with the pigman and his girlfriend? Has it gone into reruns from the early days?

I'd like to congratulate whoever google image searches for these for filtering out all of the cow women who are just far too sexy for the newspaper.

Viivi & Wagner is a popular Finnish comic about a woman who fucks a pig. We ran out of official English translations, so I'm translating and posting the first three months of the comic from 1997. There's rarely an proper joke and IMO these aren't very good, but at least it's pretty unique compared to every other strip in this thread.

Yup. There's nothing like absorbing the recoil of a double or triple charge when you derp loading the powder. It gets even worse if you get your primer and main charge horns mixed up and do a normal load using the fine primer powder. *OW*

I don't love Dilbert, but I do generally like it. As a tech worker, I often identify with it, and on the whole, I think Adams does a very decent job of keeping his stunningly ignorant politics out of the strip (though he does occasionally slip up, and it is indeed bad). Also, I grew up on the strip, so it has some meaning to me on that level as well. Some of my first experiences online were spending hours reading through the Dilbert archives in the Dilbert AOL channel.

I'm not trying to erase anyone's experiences here - I just want to surface my own as well. If the thread is bent on banning the strip, that's fine. But know that the side opposing the ban isn't all just trolls or dismissive jerks.

The headlines at this point were screaming that war with Mexico was imminent, because the government of onetime American ally Venustiano Carranza was really starting to get sick of having General Pershing's troops hanging around and agitating things by doing what we tend to do in other countries sometimes, not to mention that the occupation of Veracruz was still an uncomfortably recent memory, which is arguably one of the reasons why Villa baited us across the border in the first place. The active part of the American operation, however, was finally winding down, although the Americans wouldn't fully withdraw until 1917.

My only complaint about the Dilbert ban is that its for quality/political reasons instead of a completely inscrutable rule that no-one understands but everyone agrees must still be enforced because that would be even funnier.
