Johnny Walker posted:Mary Worth Something I've appreciated about this most recent development in this storyline is the incredibly realistic way Dawn describes her cheating on her boyfiend. This tendency is described very well in this piece by Captain Awkward, but the tl;dr is that affair-havers tend to describe their affairs in a very passive way like it's something that randomly happened to them by chance, rather than a series of choices that led them down an incredibly predictable path toward sucking face with somebody other than their partner. Dawn, your acquisition of a side-dude did not fall on you out of nowhere like a dropped piano. It was not a surprise. You chose to go on a series of dates with a guy you knew had a thing for you. You chose this affair. (The fact that Hugo is likely cheating on you as well does not absolve you, since you have no way of knowing about that.) Your daddy chose to have all his affairs too. Truly, you are both Westons and should never be dated.

Maybe Luann can hook up with Hugo once Dawn dumps his rear end via video call. (Hello, crossover episode!)

Oh god I remember Quill. Another decent character the Evans had to demonize to prevent Luann from not being a "good girl".

So Stuart was like an actual adult then, since he had a wife and all, and still went out on a date with a highschooler. Great job, Evans!

So the Evanses wrote out a young African American cancer survivor activist because it was too hard to write for her instead keeping plain ordinary massively stupid Luann

AND Luann was jealous of the attention a cancer haver was receiving, holy poo poo

Luann is literally a spoiled child who has barely any idea of how relationships work, so this tracks.

The whole Miguel plot is like several months long and goes straight through from them meeting Miguel, to fighting over him, to him deciding he likes Luann (because she's boring, I guess?), to Delta getting cancer and Luann getting jealous; meanwhile there's weeklong breaks where Gunther gives her a necklace (and she shits all over him) and Aaron asks her to be his girlfriend (and she shits all over him). It's really hard to believe the milquetoast banality of the current strip has been an improvement. Here's some pertinent strips: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() also, there's this: ![]() plainswalker75 fucked around with this message at 18:47 on Apr 1, 2020 |

It's a really close call but I may hate Luann more than Dustin. The latter is aggressively hateful and awful, this is passive-aggressively hateful.

Bernice, the smart one, is worried about getting cancer transmitted to her. Also the black girl is "delicioso" (which should be "deliciosa") for some reason.

There has been no discussion of delaying the elections due to COVID-19 because the South Korean voting process is very efficient. They don't deliberately underfund, understaff, and poorly locate polling places in such a way as to force long lines, and medical supplies are abundant, so it won't be any more dangerous than just going to the grocery store. Early voting has also been made available for the 10th and the 11th.
