Here's the character list, since there's a few characters non-Bobbinsologists won't recognise (as well as recapping where the characters are in their pre-Bad Machinery, pre-Scary Go Round lives). Huh, I didn't know that Erin was so much younger than Shelley.

I dunno about the rest of you but I'm really looking forward to the conclusion of this Funky Winkerbean arc. Les Moore talks to one of his depression siphons(friends?) and laments that maybe the world just isn't ready for Lisa's Story. Despite living off the best selling book, apparently. It's a shame everybody else is such a materialistic rube! Please cut me a movie deal!

Calaveron posted:I mean that's not true because a lot of movies have been made in the past couple of years about quirky people dying slowly and painfully of cancer "Hi, I'm Les Moore. I married a woman named Lisa who I seduced by being the nicest guy in the world. After we married she slowly died over a 5 year period from breast cancer." That's literally the entire plot of Lisa's Story, how the hell do you make that into a movie? There's no 'good-bad-good-bad' W plot, it's just 'slow painful death that has no meaning' It's like if they remade Love Story but they cut 2/3rds of the script and just left the death.

Is there anything filmable about Lisa's Story, though? That episode of ATHF where Frylock got Melanoma and Andrew WK showed up was more suitable.

I mean there's various mix-ups, stuff with Holly Budd, she testifies to Congress, you could frame it between her first cancer scare and then her death and the activist work she did in between (the plot about the lady getting fired for being disabled, etc.). I don't know if it sounds like a great movie but certainly stuff happens in the comics collected and published as Lisa's Story that aren't Les Moore just staring at the wall. I hate to say it but maybe somebody should post Lisa's Story. How Wonderful! fucked around with this message at 17:56 on May 9, 2020 |

Thanks for taking it upon yourself to post it, I'm not like, relishing this but I think it'll be interesting to read. So much of Funky Winkerbean now is building off of this but Batiuk really touches on it for the most party very very broadly.

I think I mentioned this before, but the cumulative effect of the Les strips is like if Erich Segal made the original Love Story the size of Game of Thrones, with the first 130 pages being the original book and then he compulsively never stopped writing about Oliver after Jenny died.
