Reminder that Dethany considers checking up on her co-workers three times every day during the quarantine to be a cool and good thing. Dethany's an rear end in a top hat for smiling like she's happy to get under Fi's skin.

Ughhhhh, I'm already bracing myself for some massive stupidity. My guess is that Holbrook's going to do another hate group arc, except this time it's people who think quarantine and social distancing is for losers.

Unfortunately, whoever scanned the Chicago Tribune issues I've been using neglected to scan the February 1941 copies of the comic magazine supplement where Brenda ran, except for one week. So I'm afraid we'll miss a few pieces of the story of Professor Squell's mysterious cabin. We pick up with Tom Taylor (sigh) and Pesky somehow on the scene...

*hic* Gotta finish thish . . .
Doctor Rope
Things I've wanted to say since I first started catching up with this thread:
*Bless the goon that inadvertently got James Allen to draw Mark Trail -- it feels like a second coming of Locher Tracy, which, as you all can tell, I enjoyed.
*Somebody posted about disliking Zelda, and I wanted to agree with them at the time, but my opinion is basically on the negative side of indifferent these days. I wanted to reassure the person who posted about disliking Zelda by telling them about my unpopular comic-related opinions, but I think I'll save them for later.
*Dethany is so loving UGLY it makes me sick. She looks like Nemi's dying grandmother.
*Speaking of Norwegian comics, yay Pondus :norway:
*In the Apartment 3-G arc where Tommie is an alcoholic, her behavior was basically indistinguishable from that of someone who might have been drugged. She didn't know where she was when she woke up, she sounded confused, she insisted that she hadn't had that much to drink (and the comic didn't show her drinking all that much either), and it weirded me out that everyone basically refused to hear her out.
*Every time I read a 9 Chickweed Lane strip, I imagine all the characters' voices as Stewie Griffin. Also, 9CL is my favorite strip in the thread to hate-read (Funky Winkerbean is a close second). It is so loving disgusting and I can't get enough, seriously.
*Tina from Tina's Groove looks like a young worried Sally Field.
*I hate the following comic strip characters: Amos, Dustin's dad, Dethany's creepy boss, Bernice, the baby from Daddy Daze, Ruthie.
*I love the following comic strip characters: Tildy & her wrestler "ex"-husband, Mopsy, Fleshy, the grandfather in Boondocks.

Things I've wanted to reply to that I actually managed to save the quotes for, not necessarily in chronological order:

I'm not going to lie -- I thought Dawn's plane was going to crash, because of irony or something.

That's some pretty fair logic, but I think people still extremely into astrology. I'd argue that maybe (hopefully) people take them less seriously but who knows.

An uncomfortable amount of my friends (like, double digits) take that silly garbage deathly seriously, to the point of blaming typos & missed emails on Mercury retrograde, whatever the hell that even means. I've seen people blame dating issues on negative behavior associated with their sign & the other person's sign, and blame crumbling friendships on the other person's sign. Last month I decided to take a break from social media, and not constantly seeing people circlejerk about astrology has been pretty great. :)

Let's see, my guess would be 6 and a half months or 194 days from this post. We still need to deal with:

- 1 month to resolve this storyline, and for the gopher and this new female character to get together
- 3 months of Leona's pregnancy showing and Holbrook milking it for all its worth.
- 2 weeks spent checking up on what a different couple is doing, with the gopher and new female character living together or getting married.
- 2 weeks spent on terrible visual metaphors and jokes on some random-rear end subject (probably Kevin and Kell loving)
- 1 month spent on another Serious Storyline involving racism
- 2 weeks spent on a story involving the gopher, with the new female character surprising the gopher by revealing she's pregnant.
