It's killing me that "Comic Strip Thread 2020: I wonder if Bugs Bunny is able to get and maintain an erection" almost fits in the title field.

You can take out the words "Comic Strip Thread" and the meaning of the title will be preserved

Johnny Walker posted:Popeye's Cartoon Club I'm really liking Randy's version of Popeye. Part of it is that he may be the only Cartoon Club artist to attempt actual jokes, as opposed to just going straight for "SPINACH!!!!" as if that's a punchline all by itself. But I've also been reading Something Positive since year one, so I guess I just like Randy's sense of humor. So I went and looked up his blog, and he had a Popeye-related note last week: Randy Milholland posted:Also, you may have noticed Comics Kingdom has been running comics by me in their Popeye Cartoon Club area. Last year, Cartoon Club started as a celebration of Popeye’s 90th birthday with various cartoonists offering their take on the sailor and his cast, one of those cartoonists being me. Well, what’s going on now is a bit different. These are all Popeye comics by me – Monday through Friday are traditional four panel style comics while Saturday and Sunday are larger comics I made for the original event but didn’t use (some were posted on my Twitter account).

EasyEW posted:Another chapter of The Immaculate Suffering of Les Moore, Our Husband of Cancerwife It's been said before, but having both Les and Cayla's lives be permanently wrapped around the Martyrdom of Saint Lisa is unpleasant in a way that I don't think Batiuk fully appreciates. Grief is haunting, and there's no "right" way to grieve, but having so much of the lives of these two people devoted to the death of another feels like a bridge too far to me. Especially when one of them hardly knew the person whose death they have to constantly keep alive in their home.

Dykes to Watch Out For #77 (1990)![]() ![]() Bechdel has written before about how flimsy her early attempts to separate Mo from herself were, and here we see Mo relaying the primal scene of her mother "outgrowing" kissing her, an event that Bechdel recounts in a few different autobiographical venues iirc, on top of a number of other really densely loaded memories of parental love and kissing (for example, the scene in Fun Home where she wants to kiss her father goodnight, but lacks the language of emotional intimacy to do anything other than go up and really briefly kiss his knuckles). This autobiographical slippage is really interesting smack dab in the middle of what I think is intended to be read as a pretty intense and productive moment of therapy! I like the therapy strips a lot and I really wish they were more readily available for fans coming off of her later graphic novels and curious about her strip. Anyway this is the last strip in New, Improved! Dykes to Watch Out For, the third collected volume and the last without a chunk of new material in the back. I'll pick up tomorrow with some of the new front-matter in the next volume-- she does fun character intros that very book by book.
