This particular edit I'm actually fine with (mostly because I don't think Cutter John being a doctor ever gets brought up again in the strip).

You know, i can't recall anything about Cutter John even having a job. I guess this fixes that.

Oh, I don't necessarily think it's a bad edit, I just don't understand why it was needed. Especially since we never hear about it again (at least in the original strips, who knows about upcoming edited ones)

If you wish to learn more about the horrors of boiling sugar, get yourself in a good mind-space, take a deep breath and read about slave punishments in Hiati.

Long story short, there is a reason why Dessalines killed every single white French person he could when he got into power.

You know, I've always said discovering historical comics is the best part of this thread (amazing though content like Nekonaughey is), and I realize part of it is that it lets me say dumb poo poo like "this comic strip from 1935 is a breakout hit and breath of fresh air."

The following is a non-exclusive list of comics that are forty years old or more and also own:

Smokey Stover
Thimble Theater
King Aroo
Footrot Flats
Nancy (terms and conditions apply)
Peanuts (same)
Prince Valiant (not same actually the new stuff rules but it's not quite so gloriously illustrated)
Doc's Dippy Duck
Pogo
Skippy
Keeping Up With The Joneses
Origins of the Sunday Comics
Ella Cinders

Many other comics posted own. If your comic owns and I did not mention it, don't worry, it probably still owns.

If this were in a good comic, Fi would get some character development where she realizes it's perfectly fine to share her doubts and worries with her family and it's silly to be so obsessed with the idea of appearing strong. But this is Fastrack, so Dethany would tell Fi to bottle up her feelings while appearing as a bottle of water.

Holbrook combining "hey, we need to show this person that the gopher saved hospitality" with "oh nooo, if she knew he was a gopher, this new character would murder him!" leads to some really hosed up dynamics.

Yes, this weasel was being chased earlier, but she's making the gopher feel incredibly unsafe with her comments about wanting to eat someone of his species. There's really no reason the hedgehog and her husband couldn't have politely sent the weasel on her way, rather than doing this inane plan of inviting her inside their home and asking the gopher to send a picture of himself to someone who has no problem murdering him. It's really hosed up that these two aren't taking their tenant's safety seriously at all. :psyduck:

Ah, thanks for reminding me. Sadly, we've reached the end of that compilation. I have no idea whether more exist.

Here, a bonus: two non-comic pages from the end of the book. One is character art in color (spoiled for old-timey racist caricatures); the other is a catalogue of Popular Books For Boys And Girls.
