Children's cartoons are a lot friendlier to nontraditional gender roles(and queer stuff, so Max's two moms and Infernus are safe) nowadays. I'm not super concerned, especially since they decided to pick it up in the first place.

God, the parenting in Cul De Sac is so good. We can see from her expression that Alice's mom isn't a fan of how much space the art is taking up, but she doesn't tell her daughter to stop drawing or that she draws "too much". Instead, she suggests using computers to make art as a way of expanding Alice's horizons and to make it easier to sort.

This is great news and I hope it goes well for the creator.

Is the last panel supposed to be a flashback? Because if not, then Dethany just immediately broke her promise to Fi not to tell this conversation to anyone.

So it's only been a couple of months but the dodos are inbreeding at a terrifying rate. Not only that, but the sentient flytraps, the only predator that can keep the dodo numbers in check, are ineffectual because the dodos easily destroy them. Mars' entire ecosystem is going to be destroyed and the dodos will resort to cannibalism because there's nothing else to eat.

Mars is completely hosed over and it's all DNA Wizard's fault.

The only reason they had the gopher take a selfie is so the weasel can tell oh maybe gophers aren't just to be eaten so they can start dating because everyone must be paired off in all of Holbrook's poo poo.

What's really annoying about this stupid selfie plan is that there's actually a good reason to do it. Holbrook came up with a law where predators can't hunt down preys that they personally know. But you know Holbrook never even considered that and this is just an excuse to make the gopher and weasel get together and make babies.

-My guess is the "Vaca" in "Mr. Vaca" is supposed to be pronounced "vaycay" as in "vacation." I've seen people abbreviate vacation that way before, though it doesn't read very well.

-Les being excited at the prospect of a younger sibling is really sweet. Poor kid probably wants to spare them the neglectful childhood he had.

-Safe Havens doesn't show up on my app unless I actively click on the image link but reading amigolupus' description of what's happening was bonkers and made me really happy I don't see it unless I really want to.

Mämmilä

Toivo and Rauha Rönkä we have seen before. Toivo is possibly the richest man in Mämmilä, owning tracts of land around Mämmilä and properties in the town proper, for example the building clothing store Ajan Asu is in. He's the heir of a rich, land-owning farmer, old money, and as such hopelessly out of touch. He is not in the town council or take any interest in actual development of anything, he's only in it for the money. We learn more about his history and his connection to Jalmari Lepola later.

The weasel has already loudly proclaimed wanting to kill and eat [X] race before they went inside. These two are idiots for inviting her inside their home not just because of the quarantine but also because there's a chance this weasel might just decide to eat them and their kid instead.

And gently caress, I know that if a murderer might be after me, I sure as hell wouldn't want my landlords to sell me out by showing the murderer what I look like.

I'm not at all surprised about Phoebe getting picked up by Nick. My friend's 9-year-old knows it and loves it, and she's not a comic strip reader, generally speaking. I believe she got to them through the collections, and I bet there are other kids like that. It's definitely something I can see appealing to that demo.
