I'm doing one at a time to prevent unecessary load, but I really hope they won't be required. :smith:

It really speaks to how much more lively and content heavy the thread has become over the years, Megathread 17 ( The 2018 edition.) weighed in at 6.5GB.
We're at that point now, a little over halfway through 2020.

Yes, this is the Syrjänen family again. Father Erkki is a carpenter by trade, and a later strip implies that he's a card-carrying communist.

Perhaps you have not been to the *Playground*.
The *Playground* is for Taalo and for Orz, but *Campers* can go.
It more fun than several.
You can go there for too much fun.
I'll post in both places until the future's more certain.

Thread title making me kind of emotional right now.

Also I really hope that the forums can oust Lowtax and continue on if only because it would be great, for once, if it was the lovely person who lost everything and had to pick up and move, instead of the victims and people who believe and support hte victims.

The situation's pretty grim. Looks like the mods are resigning, or at least turning in two weeks notice. Not to say that we necessarily need mods (we certainly didn't used to) but posting here at all is starting to feel kind of dirty. I'm personally more inclined to just quit forums stuff altogether, but I rather like my cockamamie idea of rebranding foreign/old comics into a thread on the Bread N Roses educational forum where the expectation is that every comics post features a context-driven explanation of all the weird stuff that's going on that contemporary native English speaking audiences wouldn't necessarily understand. Can't much say I fancy the idea of attempting such a feat if I'm the only one doing it though.

For now at least, I'll continue posting irregularly as usual.

Cheer Up Boss Dharma

So to give an example of how I would post in such a thread...you know, I used to do these all the time. After a certain point they just felt kind of off brand. Also redundant, since I couldn't remember how many cultural footnotes I'd already explained.

Here Taku is recreating the popular love confession trope which many are likely familiar with due to its appearance in various anime. It's not really a thing in Korean culture, except with younger people who don't know any better. And weirdo nerds, who also don't know any better. In fact my cultural notes are kind of anti-cultural notes in this specific case, meant to emphasize that this isn't some special Korean thing or even necessarily a special Japanese thing, and that Taku's behavior in this comic would be seen as about as ridiculous in a Korean workplace as it would in an American workplace. So it's a good thing he never actually confessed!

edit: that specific problem happens sometime because I have a bad connection and the images get uploaded in the wrong order. Thanks for calling attention to it!

There's an edit where Beetle Bailey and Sarge are ghosts from the Korean War and disappear at the end or something like that.

I'm inclined to believe that Les is not smiling, he's just making Resting Winkerbean Smug Face; internally, he's seething that everybody else in the room isn't being solemn enough about the Passion of Saint Lisa

Also consider when waffleimages died, that accounts for some of the thread sizes. Not much *but* all those comics and edits lost to time and decay.

This thread is also my home thread. And accounts for most of my posts in the forum almost certainly. I don't read all the comics. But thank you everyone who posted weird things. Even the worst dregs like Oh Baby!

I will go down with the ship *IF* this is the End of [/s]Evangelion[/s]the forums, but I hope we can keep the lights on with a new, non monster owner/admin. If you're on the discord, ping my name and we can keep in contact if you want. :v:

I hope the forum survives. Because this is the easy way to keep track of comics. It'd be way to hard in discord or some reddit.
