Where is Rose is Rose's artist from? What depths of the suburban midwest did they crawl from that their palette is so narrow?

Wikipedia says RIR creator Pat Brady is originally from Kentucky, graduated from University of Wisconsin-Madison, and lives in New Jersey.

I also found a 2000 interview where he said "Brooke McEldowney is doing fascinating art with '9 Chickweed Lane.'" :catstare:

Most of his characters are assholes, and Popeye lends itself well to rear end in a top hat characters.

The Heisenberg reference seems deliberate and believable in the original Swedish but Parks and Rec? Comedies don't travel well in general internationally and that one in particular would seem like a hard sell in a foreign market considering how wrapped up it is in the idea of small town America.

A lot of scandinavia is small town or rural, it's a sparsely populated place.

The whole point of Christmas help is indeed to just put warm bodies on the floor. That's it. Their actual skill levels or knowledge of whatever you're selling are irrelevant, all management wants is extra people on the floor pointing customers at stuff for two months.

The people applying for the jobs know this. They're only there to make some extra money for the holidays and get let go in January.

If anyone wonders "why the gently caress is Rae the Doe being posted and why was this mf excited about posting it", that's understandable.

https://www.raethedoe.com/2019/02/rae-doe-1.html

You should go here and click on random comic. IMO they're often more hits than misses and they were nice comics to see on my twitter timeline from time to time

I hope the revamped newspaper version gets better.

Rae the Doe is fine. The gags haven't been very funny so far, but I like the art and there's a lot of potential. Many of those old strips are pretty good.
