Kid Fenris posted:

I wish Arlo and Janis was archived as thoroughly as Bloom County or Peanuts. GoComics only stretches back to 1994, and as far as I can tell there are just two collections: one book of '80s strips and a more recent anthology the creator put out.

I feel the same way. That first collection goes for insane aftermarket prices. I have the second one in hardback, and it's lovely, but I think it (and Jimmy's blog) include hints as to why his older stuff isn't more thoroughly archived and available: he's very critical of his own work, especially the older stuff. I would have loved the anniversary observation to include more old material (or lead to its being made available somewhere, as teased in that drawing of the attic full of comics) but we got what we got, I guess.

35 months is almost 3 years, so that's a long lead time if it is an announcement. I think it was more of a joke about zombie strips and/or the feeling of getting old and tired.

The Timid Soul

Look at the detail Webster put into this - not only can you see Caspar's reflection in the puddle, you can see those of the passers-by.

The book that I'm taking these from doesn't have the strips in any particular order - yesterday's was from 1938, and the next one is from 1943, so I'll assume that this undated one was from 1941; inflation calculator says $100 then would be worth about $1750 now.
