Ah yes, it's the return of my most hated "joke" in OBH: Being lovely and bringing up sexist stereotypes about moms.

He just sexually harassed this woman like a week back. :wtc:

I really wasn't expecting a bunch of Dethany cheesecake but I am amused that the despite having more closeups and detailed character models, the Dick Tracy artists still don't know she is supposed to have a bunch of piercings.

The more detailed drawing also highlights the problem with her design: Her hairline is way too high so she looks like she's either got premature baldness or her forehead is way too big. It's also funny how the DT artists forgot that Dethany's only supposed to be wearing eyeshadow, so they've made her seem like she's got perpetual black eyes.

I know it's not outside of the comic's typical repertoire, but can't help but read some of these more recent F Minuses as some low key megaburns.

She's a ridiculous nerd, but I can sympathize. When I've been a guest at other folks' homes (a less permanent situation but this is Bernice's first night) it feels so weird to try and anticipate their routine. Particularly when something unusual happens like a cat vomiting on you.

Classic Kevin and Kell (January 1-5, 1996)

Happy new year! :toot:

Context: Calvin&Hobbes ended on December 31st, 1995.

First appearance: Corrie. She's been in a few strips before as "Bruno's sheepskin", but this is the first time she's actually recognised as a character in her own right.

First appearance: Fiona.

Also, as a heads up: I'm going on vacation starting tomorrow to a place that has no internet connection, so Classic Kevin and Kell will be on hold until next Monday since updating on my phone is a pain and I'm not going to even try that. Carrying replica guns seems extremely stupid. Modesty and Willie would be expected to believe they were real, which would make them more likely to use deadly force in response, and you're at a disadvantage because your guns aren't real.

We just had a storyline where poachers wanted to skin the weasel alive and that the people wearing animal skin are painted to be evil. By transitive property, Bruno's a monster for wearing what people assume is a dead person's skin.

The Finnhorses have indeed a reputation of being hardworking and resilient, despite being smaller than most breeds, although I'm not sure how much of that is nationalistic propaganda, since it matches the narrative of the Finnish people so perfectly. Then again, if you lived in a hostile environment like pre-industrial Finland, you probably wanted to breed horses that are tough as gently caress.

The first time I, as an American, brought this up around my British partner (because of course I know what Thomas the Tank Engine is!) he looked at me like I'd grown two heads.

He was also confused I didn't know which character the Fat Controller was, because the American version only ever called him Sir Tophamm Hatt.
