This one raised my eyebrow but I'm not sure what to make of it yet.

Considering all the loaded statements in this Mammila and the last 1-2 as well as the one dude fleeing the country during the fallout I wouldn't put it past the little gentleman's business club to have gone upon this entire venture on the visiting prince's statement without an actual formal agreement. Cue the prince mugging for the panel/camera and saying "Juniper balls? I lost interest! Besides, it is not as though we drew up a contract!"

:allears: The anticipation for this hammer to fall is amazing.

Wikipedia posted:

Angry Birds is a fantasy-based media franchise created by the Finnish company Rovio Entertainment. The series focuses on multi-colored birds that try to save their eggs from green-colored pigs, their enemies. Inspired by Crush the Castle,[1] the game has been praised for its successful combination of fun gameplay, comical style, and low price.

In the summer of 2017, GoComics announced that it will be running a comic strip series based on the world of The Angry Birds Movie, with each issue available to view on its website.[66] The strip ran for over a year, from 3 August 2017 to 20 September 2018.
Ran for a year at a rate of three strips per week, from the looks of it.

I never heard about this comic before last week, but I'll gladly post something Finnish. Now let's see what the gocomics commenters had to say at the time.

MARKETS AND INCOMPETENT LEADERSHIP BEHIND JUNIPER INC'S TROUBLES

Collapse of demand on Juniper Inc's market sector along with obvious inexperience and incompetence of company leadership are some of the reasons for Juniper Inc's problems, explains Teuvo Isopaljo, an intermediary for Juniper alongside his existing duties as the CEO of Crywood Inc.

Juniper Inc's difficulties came to light just as the company seemed to have solidified its position as the leading manufacturer of juniper products in the North. New and original idea was not enough to secure success for the company amidst international competition. Exports to Juniper's main market area of Middle East
-------
says CEO Isopaljo in his statement. In addition, solvency of Juniper Inc. has weakened in part due to delays in foreign payments

So there it is. The speculation was slightly off, it wasn't that the deal wasn't for real, it seems that the deal was with Isopaljo personally.

First spoiler, there will be no consequences for Isopaljo because of this. Despite the comedic bits, Tarmo Koivisto's main goal is realism and even though it's obvious whose side he is on, he also knows that guys like Isopaljo rarely fall while ordinary people are left to pick up the pieces. If that's too depressing, all I can say is that he will experience setbacks and his stature will diminish.

Second spoiler, because it will be a while before we see him again, mayor Martti Mielonen won't actually commit suicide.

This latest one sets everything up relatively clearly, though I agree it can get chaotic and it took this one for me to pull it together:
--wealthy Saudi expresses interest in juniper balls.
--everything in town is upended to deliver, profiteering and graft off every side
--this is all sold on the idea that it's a profitable new industry instead of a one-off job, and for that matter I'm not sure if the Saudi job is an actual contract or "once we have them the guy will totally remember he wanted them and be happy to pay us"
--A bunch of folks have drastic life changes as a result through cronyism, being scapegoated/ousted for trying to stop it, or as a result of other folks buying into the dream and making promises they think they'll be able to keep.
